I loved the original Cell Block and never missed it. I was looking forward to the new series but I just cant get into it.
I wish one of the stations out there would show the first one as well |

Yeah, they should show Cell Block on CBS Drama or a similar channel. It's long overdue a repeat.
By the way, every episode from start to finish is on YouTube, if anyone does fancy a rewatch. |

I was hoping some exec might be prompted to rerun PCBH if the ratings for Wentworth stayed high to capitalise on it's success. Sadly, Wentworth's ratings have taken quite a dip so I think it's unlikely now.
It does seem like the type of show CBS Drama or some such channel would have snapped up by now. I can't imagine it'd be that expensive to buy the broadcasting rights and it has enough episodes for them to really get the most out of it. Two episodes a day would see them through the best part of a year! |

Why can't they bring in a sky soap channel and show soaps from the beginning to the end or in most cases till they catch up on the current time. I know loads who will watch their favourite soap regularly and about PCBH, I was lucky enough to win the whole series, all 692 episodes from HMV when they started to release DVD's of the series. It was signed and and come in a gift box that looked like prison bars. I never watched the DVD version as I seen it on ITV, Channel 5 and YouTube. The Wentworth series I think is great, really enjoying it but compared to PCBH is for a different generation.

Wentworth is drama series, Prisoner was a soap. There is a difference between the two which I think some don't understand so that's why Wentworth is more gritty than what Prisoner was as Prisoner had two 45 minute episodes each week so could pad them out with in between light hearted stuff. The ratings for Wentworth in the UK have followed the same pattern as in Oz. They dipped in the middle but then rose again for the final few episodes. Hopefully that pattern will be repeated here.
I doubt any channel will start showing Prisoner anytime soon. Freemantal have just spent several years releasing the whole thing on box sets. The final volume came out not so long since so until they feel they get their money out of that they might not sell the rights to a TV station. |

He used to bring me roses, I wish he would again...
Who is saying that Cell Block H wasn't gritty? "I will give you a little push like I did with Gilmore," The burning under the press was still seen, but where is Lizzie Birdsworth? However I haven't watched an episode all the way through as the housemate refuses to believe that Bea Smith was ever sexy |

The new Lizzie Birdsworth is the middle-aged lady with curly blonde hair who works as a peer worker on the wing.

Remember its meant to be about Beas early days of prison. It doesn't start from the same point in her life as PCBH did. It's just another interpretation and I think they're doing a great job. Loving all the discrete nods to the original series

There used to be a Sky Soap channel in the 1990s that ran for a few hours in the day. It died with the digital age. But I've always thought why don't they have one these days with all the zillions of channels. Running it through the night for those of us who work in the day.
Back to Prisoner/Wentworth. They are different shows for different eras but I love both and couldn't compare them as they are so different. I wasn't expecting to like Wentworth but it has exceeded my expectations and definitely one of the highlights of my TV week. With the exception of the odd character name, I easily forget that it is related to Prisoner. |
