I'm sure ratings will go up. It doesn't even need saving IMO, I'm enjoying it.

Comeon DTC! LMAO I remember earlier someone posted a link to a Lorraine Newman interview around the time she started, and on the comment section someone wrote something like:

Omg! Yesss Comeon Newman! Finally someone who knows what their doing. Then the person goes on talking about how brill chemistry Alfie and Roxy got....

It's a case he has to perform or EastEnders really could set into a terminal decline, three bad EPs in a row would ensure this.

It depends how serious he is. Will we see the familiar "DeadEnders" headline on the Sunday papers with a list of characters given the chop?

To be fair, when Kat had gone to look after Charlie, after his stroke, and Alfie and Roxy were friends while working in the Vic together, they had great chemistry. Now, it's like they're not trying because there's no point: Alfie and Kat will be back together.

EE is unrepairable he talks the talk, but can he walk the walk?

Ratings won't improve overnight lot of repair work to be getting on with.

The sidebar of that article: “Having Dominic in the hot seat has given everyone a boost. His plans have got everyone excited” seems awfully familiar. I seem to remember reading an almost identical quote from a 'source' when Lorraine Newman took over.

I loved DTC's work with Santer right up to the 2010 live episode. Then it was like they totally lost interest - as though all their efforts were going towards the live episode and then they ran out of steam. BK took over the reins of a show already 6 months into a decline, and it hasn't really recovered since.

A few standouts for me over the past 3 years were Billie's death, the fallout from Heather's murder, Pat's exit (including David Wicks' return) and the introduction of Mr M Moon Esq. I can barely remember anything else.

I hope DTC is feeling refreshed after his break from EE and works his backside off to restore it to its former glory. He's more than capable of it.

I doubt many people would like to be him at the moment, the pressure he must feel is huge.

You're getting ahead of yourself. Give him time to actually do something with the show and for his episodes to begin airing before demanding proof.

He can't be worse than Newman, things can only get better. I just hope he gets his axe out and starts chopping.

To be fair, Alfie and Roxie did have chemistry at one point in the show, ever since they were a couple though it seems like they were intent on splitting them up so he can get back together with Kat.

People also say Kat doesn't work well with Alfie which we know just isn't the case. Yes when they returned they were a bunch of misery guts but pre 2005 they were one of the most popular couples on soap.

Basically my point is that characters can have chemistry together and then lose it due to the writing.

You got crystalball there?

There is absolutely no guarantees it will recover. EE has lost lot of viewers in 2 and half years, can't see viewers rushing back in a hurry.whoever the producer is.

Just my magic 8 ball , Old viewers might come back, but there are far more other people who do not watch any soaps, what about reeling them in!

Doubtful even casual viewers will tune in considering the show isn't must see TV anymore. These comebacks won't bring viewers back for the short term or long term the damage has been done.
