Fatboy Slim - The Joker
Anyone else seen/heard this? I know it is just a ripoff of the tune for Space Cowboy from years ago but it is quite catchy.
Please be gentle with me - it is my first post on the Music board.

yeah, like this tune
I've got another fatboy/bootsy tune called 'Illuminati' which is good too but I'm not sure if it'll be released, it's maybe a b-side |

Has it always been called The Joker? it used to go 'some people call me Maurice, woohoo". LOL. If you look in the video they go to somewhere called Maurice's Place or something.

The Joker, originally by Steve Miller Band

Obviously not the same song I was thinking of (the original I mean).
Fatboy Slim is not my taste of music, but it isn't bad for what it is. |

Not sure about the video. Cute kittens in cute costumes being, well, cute. Seems too easy from the guy who brought us Christopher Walken dancing in a hotel and a guy and girl, naked apart from some masking tape, spraying graffitti all over a portacabin or whatever it was. It's like he ran out of inspiration and simply pandered to mass appeal.

The video was designed by someone who won a competition - it has a message from the woman who won at the start of the video.

I quite like it but the video edit of the song isn't very good. |

How do you mean it's a joke?
Did they make it up that it was designed by the woman? |

It's not very good, really. The original was always a bit of a joke anyway because the lyrics are so ridiculous:
Some people call me Maurice/ Cause I speak of the pompitous of love I was in a pet shop a month back, before the single or the video got any airplay, and there was a really big, fat cat sat on the counter. Spookily, the cat's name was Quentin... |

Yeah exactly - the new cover doesn't have those lyrics in it at all - so it is a new song and not using the same words as someone said before.

Yeah, and anyway I've decided I didn't like the song in the first place so don't know why I started a thread for it.
![]() I'll stick with Muse, Maroon 5, Snow Patrol, U2, Keane, Franz Ferdinand, REM, Chili Peppers, etc.
