Since all this nastiness about Pam st Clement has come out(A holes) thought I would do a thread about other times characters were treated appallingly.

CS Derek Wilten axed off by Brian Park due to a massive revamp of Corrie, why he was singled out I don't know and the actress who played Mavis was so angry she quit.

EE Tiffany Mitchell, martine mccutcheon left to pursue a singing career and instead of leaving it open fo her to come back the killed her Oh and the Mitchells won again

EE Pauline Fowler, Turned vile in the end, Treating Martine and everyone like crap and lying about being terminally ill.

HO Ricky, In the show for 3 years didn't get used for the last 2, didn't even get an exit, DIDN'T EVEN GET BLOODY PUT IN THE BEGINNING CREDDITS all in favour of Maddies pathetic group

ED Viv Windsor, didn't watch at the time but hear she died in a crappy fire.

any others?

EE - Melissa Suffield, They sacked her because she had a drink when she was 17??? (like most teenagers do) and replaced her with an actress who's portrayal of the character 'Lucy Beale) is nowhere near as powerful or interesting.

I think that was more to do with her character though, BK didn't like the Beales and ended up axing Peter, Lucy and Jane (I know Laurie went on maternity leave but she only came back for a few months after). He'd have axed Ian given half a chance but TPTB put their foot down. They always said Lucy was to be recast but later revealed there were no plans to bring her back- until Hetti was eventually brought in

Letitia Dean is an actor the Producers seem to hate, poor writing atm

Disagree killing Tiffany was good and logical descion, besides she said she wanted the role left in case her singing career didn't kick off.

Ben Unwin on H&A if the rumours were true. It's basically an urban legend now.

actually there was also Robert Sugden in ED, the original one, they axed him off and 3 moths later bought in a pretty boy to play him.

Oh definitely Billy Murray. Johnny Allen's exit was beyond atrocious. He had a fantastic first two months or so, where he really could've been one of Eastenders all time characters, then they paired him up with his moll effectively neutering him. I vividly remember the chilling 'decorating Jim's house' storyline. Killing him off in prison when they really had no need to put the finishing touches on it really. A total waste of a superb actor.

I remember that. It was reported at the time that he was going to sue Yorkshire TV for unfair dismissal.

Did Bryan Kirkwood hate EastEnders?

He killed Pat and decimated the Beales. You could argue Pat and the Beales along with Dot, who he gave little or nothing to do during his time, were the backbone of EastEnders. Why would a producer go out of their way to remove that foundation?

I never bought into the Kirkwood conspiracy theories before I found out the truth about Pat. It would've been Kirkwood's idea to bring back Sharon and make her into a man dependent drug addict too. Was he in charge when June Brown took her 8 month break? I bet he gladly agreed to that

Both the actors playing Peter and Jane left of their own accord.

I agree, ruby complete wasted Johnnys concept of being a ruthless gangster, 40+ years as a gangster and turns himself in because his daughter wouldn't love him, really?

Definitely Viv Windsor.
Character didn't even get an on screen Funeral episode.
A few characters gathered in the Pub and Marlon read out a poem.
That was it.

Martine McCutcheon was a disgrace IMO. would of been a fab returnee if the flipping PTB didn't kill her off.

Ben Freeman IMO should of got his job back after being cleared of rape

Under the Oaks EP before BK second stint (I forgot her name) Diane was treated dreadfully, during her stint everything was about Maddie.

Powerful in comparison - I never said it was powerful, she was a young developing actress though who was doing a good job considering she grew up on set. Am sure there was a lot more to come from her

IMO, they're about on par for being very limited.

What's your issue? We don't agree with you, get over it. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Express it and move on. Just make sure you read other peoples posts properly first before criticising them.

Excuse me, that's exactly what I was doing, giving my opinion to what you just wrote.

Are you incapable of discussion on a discussion forum?

I don't have any issue, I'm contributing to the thread.
