Hb-1000s +
Sirs,
Have recently purchased an HB-1000S (which appears to work fine) & connected an 1GB drive which does not stop flashing even though not recording which seems wrong. Observations please. Chris |

Chris If you press record half way though on a programme you have watched from the start do you get the whole programme? |

As Repassac says it's recording the current programme to the time shift buffer to give you live TV pause, rewind etc. The Freeview box (HD FOX T2) is the same. It's not obvious on the twin tuner boxes because the HDD is internal. The drive activity LED gives the game away on the boxes using external storage.
You should see the drive light flashing 15 minutes before an accurate recording falls due as well. At a guess you can use this to in effect record two at once. Try this as an experiment. Set the news to record from BBC1 HD tonight at 22:00. Now goto CH4-HD and set a watch reservation London Irish tonight at 22:00. The box should switch to Ch4-HD at 22:00 as it starts recording the news. Try pressing the record button at say 22:15 you should get a message saying you can't record the channel. Just after 22:30 when the news finishes push the record button (if the box doesn't record CH4-HD all by itself), hopefully you will also get a recording of London Irish as well. Can you post if this works and if you needed to start the second recording manually? |
