They've had more than enough time to settle in, what are your views on them and do you think they have a long term future in Eastenders?

Dull and boring, lack of personality, too much screaming words, not enough interaction with family or friends, Dexter could get away from it as he interact more with the younger group but he annoys me with his constant fast motion speaking, they just don't feel like a family that is for the long term.

I voted that they're OK, but could do with some improvement.

By improvement, I mean ditching Sam. He's dragging them down big time.

Sam: dull, boring and depressing.
Ava: irritating when with Sam, good when it's just her and Dexter. Never seems to working, meant to be a headteacher but spends most of her time in the Vic or wandering around Walford.
Dexter: I like him.

I am not liking this kidney storyline, I didn't mind Sam when he first came in but since him and Ava have got together he's become boring.

I think Ava and Sam were better apart

Agreed. I still think Ava with better writing could be a decent character, it would be interesting if they killed Sam off and focused on Ava's grief and maybe finally explore her and Cora's relationship.

Dexter is quite annoying and it's laughable when he gets angry because it's like a child throwing a strop.

I like Ava, she is a likable character that really has no ties to the square, she doesn't interact with any of her family and she probably would have been safer off where she was. She was really good in the Gang storyline but hasn't been great since.

Sam is a bore as the nice guy, I really hope EE turn him into a villain.

They've been a complete flop.

Dexter is ok but Ava does not have anything likeable about her, and that screeching voice is like nails down a chalkboard. The less said about Sam the better.

Dexter and Ava are both hit and miss - the former I like alot with his group of mates, the later sorely needs to make some outside her family unit [and Whitney].

Sam, well... My views on him will be made crystal clear in my EE episode thread tonight!

Sam is a waste of space but he will run off as soon as he gets Dexter's kidney so hopefully that won't be too long.

Dexter could be ok but I can only understand about half of what he says.

Ava I thought was brought in as Cora's daughter but they seem to have put that to one side, which is a pity imo. I was looking forward to seeing a real relationship growing between them but Sam's arrival scuppered that. On her own I find her very annoying, and her background story is ridiculous. She has gone from being the deputy head of a school to now running a crèche. Waste of her qualifications, or what!!

I can't stand any of them

I can just about put up with Dexter though as I find him quite easy on the eye for some reason

Mostly a big disappointment- where is Ava's relationship with Cora heading?

Kill off Sam & Dexter but save Ava.

I just haven't taken to them, The acting doesn't help. The actor that plays Sam in particular is terrible and the chape that plays Dexter is not all that great either and I still have trouble witgh what hes saying "innit" - save that for Hollyoaks not a grown up soap!

Ava - They seem to have forgotten why she was introduced - just so they could rehash the kidney storyline.

If they keep Ava and Dexter on when Sam goes back to his other family with new kidney, then I say they should axe the Masoods because for me, if they want to intoduce a new family then one current family has to be given the chop (and it won't be the Brannings!!).

Like Ava and Dexter – although her relationship with Cora is rather ambiguous. Are they friends? Are they not? It appears to be different every episode.

Sam I’m not so keen on – I don’t like the way the actor delivers his lines. I hope he’s on a short term contract – comes in, worms his way into the family, takes Dexter’s kidney and runs off again.

I’d quite like a shock twist, like see him meet his dad to tell him that Dexter is a match (since the whole reason for him coming to the Square was in response to his dad dying).

Agree with this. Sam is just irritating full stop. With the over-dramatic facial expressions he constantly wears, he would be better suited to theatre acting.

Someone needs to tell him that leaving his mouth open and slack at the end of every line delivery is very distracting for the TV viewer.

I do like Dexter. He has shown some decent morals so far, I love his puppy-dog eyes, and the relationship he has with Abi. She needs a brotherly figure in her life, and he fits that nicely right now.

I can't stand them, especially Dexter. I call him Dexter Hallmark because there's been so much sentimental rubbish with him. There was the scene with him and Cora making sad doe eyes at each when Ava told Cora to stay away from them. Then have been the scenes of him playing cards with his gran, playing football with his dad (that was a Hallmark commercial if ever I saw one), having group hugs with his friends (seriously?) and buying his cousin a burger. He's also a big baby and a control freak. I'm mystified why his friends let him give them advice.

As for Ava, I can't invest in characters when the writers don't seem to know who they are. She came into the show as a well spoken professional who was raised by loving adoptive parents. Then her grammar deteriorated, she changed from an educated professional to a struggling single mother and Cora 'abandoned' her. Who is Ava? The writers seem to be making her up as they go. Sam is manipulative and pulls strange faces. I can't find anything about this family to like.
