I just think of Sharon as a very iconic character. Someone who is harder to axe. If I was Pam St Clement I would have just left and refused to film Pat's death storyline. Mind you maybe she could have got into all sorts of trouble for breaking a contract.

This is largely down to Sam being a far superior actress though. Ronnie has had some bad storylines along the way, such as the pregnancy with Owen and the whole Joel thing, but Sam is a very good actress and that saw her through.
Letitia just doesn't have that ability, I find she has zero presence on screen and her lines always seem forced and contrived. It's as much an acting issue as it is a storyline one.

I thought there was a littlte spark between her and Charlie Brooks, so much so that I believed in Sharon/Janine's one episode "friendship" more than I did months of Tanya/Sharon.

Guess so.
I just think Sharon is not the same without the likes of, the cast of her time so its makes her even worse.

He did try it on with her and Grant hit him.....
But in 1995 the episode before her exit there was a lengthy scene between the pair. Unlike other women in his life he opened up with her without the smarm. It was clear he wanted to have more chats with her, he says that after he walks her home late that night. She said she would like too but it probably wont happen (as she knows she is leaving for Miami the next day)

Exactly right. No actor or actress is bigger than the show and I think her time should come to an end.

I agree with this. Sam Womack is an outstanding actress. She has good chemistry with the other actors unlike Letitia Dean who is a rotten actress.

I was disappointed when they brought her back. There is nothing special about her character and yes she is a rubbish actress. All the talk that the producers and writers are "deliberately giving her bad storylines after a bust up" are ridiculous. I think the character has nowhere to go and Letitia Dean delivers her lines so badly. I hope she is axed too OP.
We just found out Pat was axed. Despite how badly written she's been since 2012 it would not benefit the show in any way to axe Sharon. She was a powerful character in her previous eras and is the only other original character left along with Ian. I don't know what's going on behind the scenes for her to be destroyed like this but I equally don't see how axing her at the lowest point of her tenure would be good for the EastEnders brand.

I'm not sure that's true anymore. They axed Pat because the actress wanted a break. When it comes to the 80's characters I don't think they're valued as highly as the 90's ones and are in danger of the axe. The Pat revelation from Barbara Windsor opened my eyes. We could actually see Sharon axed. If Pat can be axed then anyone can.
Not a chance. Even if she is proving extremely unpopular with the public at the minute Sharon is one of the characters whose history is at the very foundations of Eastenders. There is no way they would axe a character that has been in the middle of some of the greatest storylines have ever produced.
I am pretty sure the Mitchells were only introduced because of Sharon as well and the show probably wouldn't be running without the Mitchells.

As long as she's willing to stay on the show they'll keep her.
The show can work without Barbara Windsor, but if Windsor was willing to stay on they'd be all for it.
axing Sharon would be like axing Ian she is part of one of the original three families. It won't happen, they will wait until she wants to leave (she never sticks around for that long anyway). The show started with the Fowler's, Watts and Beale's without them you wouldn't have the Mitchell's(so no beloved Ronnie who was in fact made up when they needed more Mitchell's, she was never part of the original Mitchell family) or the Wick's(no Pat, David, Carol or even Lauren).
It is the same reason why Michelle or Martin won't be killed off screen either.
