If there is one character that would improve the show and ratings, It would be grant.

LOL at her return being a ratings winner.

Anyway, I'd take this article with a pinch of salt.

No single character can save the show. It takes good drama, storylines and characterisation to get people watching again.

Honestly, it wouldn't. If he returned we would not see a dramatic ride in ratings and I say that for all 'iconic' characters, including Michelle Fowler.

It takes drama and the show entetaining audiences to get the ratings up these days. No single character would get viewers back and neither would it make the show watchable.

Grant returned in 2006 and he had an affair with Jane. We did not see a incease in ratings and neither did his return make that terrible year in any way better.

What, exactly, will be the point? Every time something half interesting is set to occur, the surround it with absolute crap. Take the Peggy return. It was 10 minutes of Peggy and 20 minutes of teen drama, yet again. Come. On.

Saying that, getting Peggy back might work, or it might not. Not with the present writing team anyway. If only DTC had been in charge when Sharon first came back. It might have been entirely different.

I'm sure Babs will be back.

Infact I'm betting money on it. Sam Womack will also be back full time.

I wouldn't be surprised if all the Mitchell's ended up back in The Vic either. Its a winning formula when they are in there so why change it. Alfie hasn't ever really worked in the pub. Each time he has been the face of The Vic the show has had a crisis. I think that's telling us something.

Her return did nothing for the ratings, nor did Sharon's. When are they going to learn that random returns do nothing for the show.

If Peggy's return had been on the Monday the ratings would have been higher. Friday is has always been the lowest of the week for EE so it never makes sense when they pull big events on that day. This has happened several times with various Friday stories.

As for Sharon. This might come as a big shock but I'm not convinced she is as popular as EE viewers on here would like to believe. Not to say Peggy is either but I think Sharon has always been hyped higher than her status.

That would be great. The Mitchell family could need a great woman on the top.

I think the same can be said about Peggy. I don't think she will enhance the Mitchells. Ronnie is now a stronger character and Phil is now in his fifties and a granddad. He doesn't need his mummy, he should be the undisputed head of his family.

She would definitely give the show a much needed boost. Friday's episode was quite cruel in the sense that they gave us glimpses of Peggy and then took her away from us.

It was an understated return which set things up for the future - I have no doubt in my mind that she'll return. I certainly hope she does as I'd love her back in charge of the Vic.

Peggy, Phil, Ronnie, Roxy, Billy and Lola would be a great set up in the Vic. I'd be tempted to add Grant and Sam for nostalgia too!

Dont know whether save the show is the right phrase, but EE is missing the Peggy generation. If producers entice her back I think they need to watch they dont over work Babs. There is no one of Phils age who is in control of their family. Max is disfunctional, Ian is a mess and Alfie has lost all his family as they are written out.

Yes if possible bring Babs back but only as a gel for the Mitchell family and a way of putting them back together and showing Phil that he needs to do that and stop holding grudges against his own, especially Billy. He should be getting far more support than Phil is giving him.

I loved Peggy's exit it was perfect and emotional. I Don't think she should come back at all it would just ruin the point of her exit and everything she lost, the show can cope fine without her

This.

Peggy's had her time [and said as much in the episode], imho.

Totally agree, I would like to see Peggy back on the screen and I would love to see her in a part time role instead of Peggy being in every scene and involved in every storyline.

How can they say that the fans want Peggy back? Some do, some don't.

Peggy screeching about her faaamily does nothing for me!

Bring back Peggy and her sister, the loud mouth Sal Martin for more guest stints.

I'm a big Peggy fan and would love her to return, especially as the Mitchells seem to be coming back to prominence.I'd like to see her with Lola and she works really well with the rest of the Michells.
