Doctor Who product placement
Who else thought EE was a bit full on today with all the product placement for Doctor Who?

It's not product placement. The BBC is not making any money from briefly featuring another one of their shows in EastEnders.

Near the start Tamwar puts in a Dalek episode and at the end Alice and Tamwar talk about random Pertwee stories.

A episode of EE was once on in Dr Who once. It wasn't a real episode but it had Peggy behind the bar telling Den Watts gohst to get out. I wonder if that was the episode being played on the show tonight...

It's hardly the first time Who has been mentioned in EE. Den Watts once referred to Ian as Davros (funny as Grantham played Davros' little henchman in 84 and Woodyatt is a massive fan in real life) and Bradley talked about it a lot. They even showed him and Stacey outside a (mad up) convention.
There is also a Who poster very prominently displayed in one of the Hollyoaks kitchens (it has been there for about 3 years) and it has also been discussed in Holby City - convo about who the best Doctor is. It is an iconic programme so why shouldn't it be mentioned? Also, EE has cropped up in Who several times with references to 'best Christmas Walford has ever seen' being a portent of doom and Peggy appearing as mentioned. |

What is on BBC 1 on at 8pm on Monday and Friday, 7.30 Tuesday and Thursday in Albert Square. They obviously get Doctor Who on Saturdays.

Michelle mentioned Dynasty as well when they were discussing what to name Martin when he was born.
I like references like that - helps to place Soaps in the real world - why shouldn't they watch the same shows that we do? |
