I've noticed people demanding Dexter be axed along with his parents on account of him not having anyone on the square. Not true. Even when Ava and Sam go he'll still have a gran on the square, Cora, and two cousins in Lauren and Abi. I mean there's people in Eastenders who have less family than that so I don't see why his parents leaving should mean he has to as well. Personally, I think he's a good character and could potentially blossom once relieved of his parents, especially if he moves in with the Branning's or gets a place with Cora who I think he works very well with.

He seems pretty childish for a 20 year old, he seems really dependent on his mum!

I go off and on with Dexter, he was awful during the away camping week but I found him much better these past few episodes.

Which is exactly why I think his parents leaving might have a positive affect on the character. It might force him to be a bit more individualistic.

It would make him pointless.

Well no, as he still has friends (Jay, Peter, Cindy) and family (Cora, Lauren, Abi) on the square.

Phil Mitchell is still dependent on his mum, so i can;t buy this. And lets not forget he has only had his mum so he knows he needs to look after her because if what they have been through.

People seem to forget these things, lets just bash characters.
