What is it with certain people who have become obsessed with seeing lady gaga fail.

Artflop is the new buzz word amongst them.

Its very bizarre .
She's one of the richest young musicians out there.
Why the hate? It baffles me. She works hard. Its not like she's one of those artists who sits back and does sod all till they are called to the studio to sing someone else's readily produced song.

People hate to see someone become so successful. The trend is to build them up and then try to bring them all the way down. It isn't just GaGa. Some of the comments in that Jessie J moving thread are pathetic. It seems we can't be happy until someone else is failing. It's quite bizarre. You see it on this forum everyday. "I hope _____ flops." "_____ should never open their mouth again." God forbid a singer is sick or something. Then you get a whole new slew of crazy and wishing ill. No longer is it just crazy stand on Twitter. It's like the world thrives on the failures of others. I think people forget that for a lot of these people, this is their livelihood and their passion. We would hate for someone to hope we lost our jobs or whatever. I get not liking something, but the rabid need to attack is bizarre.

I was a Gaga fan at the beginning of her career and that was in summer 2008....and I am from the U.K (who most didn't hear of till 2009).

Many people dislike Gaga because of her fans. When she became 'mother monster' and me (one of the fans) became 'monsters' it all changed I think.

ALOT of 'monsters' were vile online and its specific to other artists that are gaining in prominence and have success therefore taking some of Gaga's spotlight.

Look at Adele and what she did for music in 2011....Gaga did nothing in comparison. Yet Adele was the one that got SHAT on by the 'monsters'. Fair enough don't listen to Adele's music, don't go out your way to post a vile message to her on Twitter. Or is that too hard to do?

I stopped being a big fan of her because of the media clumping us fans together....!
It also is cringe when you watch her iTunes performance this past month....get on with the singing and stop with the posing.

I hate to say it, but I think she has brought a lot of it on herself. At times I feel like she uses her "little monsters" as a weapon to her advantage.

'Little Monsters' were/are a virus online for so long. I understand fan loyalty and stanning, but they took it to a whole new level of obsession and viciousness. I think the spread of "Artflop" comes from a combination of things:

1). Gaga doesn't have the same grasp on the public she had before, therefore there isn't as much support or anticipation for the new music.
2). The Little Monsters have shot themselves in the foot with a dose of their own medicine. Other fan groups have almost become allies in order to defeat the Little Monsters. They are doleing out insults to the Little Monsters to rile them up.
3). 'Artpop' ends with 'op' just like the word 'flop'... it just works. The adding on of 'flop' to underperformances is just too common on the internet no matter if it fits the word or not (Little Monsters called Christina's albums 'floponic' and 'floptus', that's just bad wordplay. 'Artflop' just rolls off the tongue).

She's not doing as well because the quality of her work isn't as good as it was and most casual fans don't like being called 'monsters' and don't like being associated with the weirdness of it all. It's also not nice to go online and see the hate and vitriol spouted by the more rabid fans and it's just generally off putting but the main thing is her music isn't all that good these days and she isn't innovating and pushing the boundaries now and the novelty of her outfits has long worn off

To be fair a lot of Lady Gaga fans have spent the last few years trolling forums, fansites and YouTube videos by calling everyone under the sun a flop when compared to Gaga's success, they've also accused countless other singers and bands of ripping her off, even music videos and songs released well over a decade ago in the 1990s. A lot of her fans are downright obnoxious, nasty (wishing death on Adele) and arrogant, the sad thing is many of them are probably grown adults.

Reap what you sow.

Not aimed at you, and I understand that this is a discussion forum, but I'm bored of people making a new thread for every thought they have about Gaga. It's exhausting.

Let's just say 'Artflop' is as pathetic as Flopney, Floptina, Flopyonce and Grandmadonna. Her fans are getting a taste of their own medicine. If they weren't up for it, they shouldn't have trashtalked every other female in the music industry besides GaGa.

i have never once used that buzz word, but it has been insinuated that i may want gaga to fail. frankly, there is no denying i comment on her a lot and to an extent these in insinuations are inevitable.

i feel absolutely no "hate" towards her whatsoever, but it is of course well documented here that i am clearly not a fan. however, i do comment positively about her when she does something that warrants it in my opinion. only recently i commended her on what i thought was a good performance on gma.

gaga's biggest problems are her ego and some of her fans behaviour. she doesn't handle criticism well at times and some of her fans react disproportionately at the sightless criticism. all artists in the mainstream are speculated negatively at times, but some people act like this is a grave injustice exclusive to gaga.

I was actually a fan and it she comes out with something decent like bad Romance 2 then I would be a fan again but at the moment (IMO) she is releasing shite. So the hype is annoying when the end product is now not there .

Plus when she was at her biggest popularity wise I grew bored of her as she was everywhere . That is another reason I grew disinterested in her .

She's just too serious all the time. I thought pop music was supposed to be fun, and then you watch her iTunes festival and she spends about five minutes banging on about all sorts nobody has a clue about.

So we should like her because she's rich? What?

Some people are just calling a spade a spade, no hate. If she did well I'd be first to congratulate her.

That said everything I've heard from ARTPOP is bland (which has disappointed me greatly) so I usually just steer clear of all Lady Gaga news/discussions these days.

You know what's really pathetic. Hearing from months Lady Gaga will slay the the competition. So I'm just loving the fact her single Applause, which is relaying on payola and Youtube views, was even beaten by a former Disney star. Seriously stop being so illusional, this era is a mess. There's no context, story in that. Come back back to reality .

This video sums it up really good.

I just love the fact that Katy is slaying Lady Gaga even without a video. Lady Gaga failed so hard when she tried to steal Katy's spotlight on the day release of Roar. I'm not buying that stupid leaking excuse. Well done Katy.
Lying by saying Madonna send her approval for ripping off Express Yourself.
Gaga actually tweeted this: "The bigger the star, the bigger the target - Michael Jackson."

Oh dear .
She has three videos in fact, a lyric, audio and music video. Each watched by her crazy Little Monster and refreshed to death. It's obviously not an indicator of how popular her song is.
Lady Gaga knew perfectly well her fans would bombard Perez Hilton's website with death-threats, get cancer, kill yourself comments. Even one fan suggesting to kill his kid. I mean, did she really think that her fans would to sit back and say nothing after twitting to stay out of it, stop sending negativity, and that she can fight her own battles? I don't think so.
Little Monsters claiming it's the first ever black&white painted video. Madonna already did it in 1993 with the Rain video.
... the fact that in the last two months 100% of your posts have been about Gaga? Mariah Carey says hi.

have a read through http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1874324 this thread. some good points.

main points being that people feel she took herself too serious with all the 'art' stuff, whilst producing songs talking about 'bluffing with my muffin'.

again, her fans put people off, ie the sharon osbourne business.

the pretentious 'love yourself' speaches, where people say they actually leave shows because of it. they just go to sing along to some music.

her constant love for 'the gays' (her words) and putting us in a stereotype and only recognized by the fact we're gay. the total opposite to indivuality.

people not realy knowing who gaga is, because of her image changing all the time, they feel she has used every shock tactic and people get bored of it.

and i agree with some other posts about karma for the fans - have you forgotten when Taylor Swift and Adele got really popular? EVERY thread about them was hijacked by people slagging them off saying they will all flop, Adele only sold so many copies of 21 because of the supermarket shoppers and she will flop and she should die etc. and then sadly like Sharon Osbourne said, it reflects badly on the Artist, especially when the artist seems to ignore it... and THEN do that silly public letter back, which, olny would show her fans its okay to do what they do if the other person is doing it to..

and obviously the born this way era put off alot of people..and then for Applause to underpeform etc

but i agree, nobody can say ARTPOP has flopped yet because it hasnt even really begun.

Nice to see people thinking for themselves and seeing Gaga for what she is, a fraud with absolutely no substance.

ridiculous, obsessed, childish, pathetic and flops, all insinuations or words used here to describe gaga detractors and even people that have simply disconnected from her. the name calling or the dismissing of opinion by deeming it "ridiculous", doesn't really put a convincing case together to counteract the numerous claims here that some of gaga's fans are partly to blame for this supposed "hate".

I get the impression people are just fed up with her, lording herself as an incredible and innovative artist when she's not in the slightest, she's conceited and delusional about herself.

I assume 'obsessed' was me? Well when 87% of a person's posts since September 2011 have been about an artist they clearly hate, obsessed is not the word.
