I thought the first episode was a little weak, except for the Sheldon/Penny scenes which were great as usual.

The second episode was a lot better and some good out laughs (Howard and Raj and the man boobs).

I'd say the first two episodes though were stronger than the garbage that was season 6.

I thought the first episode was better. One of the best.

The man boobs stuff in episode 2 was a bit of a cliche. Lazy and unoriginal.

The Penny and Sheldon stuff was very funny in 1 but I thought the episode didn't really go anywhere after Leonard appeared.

I quite like them getting back to the old Raj and Howard man love stuff, less of Amy and Bernadette as well which was good.

I just think the howard and raj play like a couple stuff has been done to death. And it's a bit predictable.

In episode 1 Jim Parsons appeared to be doing little except trying to make Kaley Cuoco corpse.

Is the show not scripted?

I don't really see how you can blame an actor in a comedy show for reading the script in an amusing way.

She's often had problems not laughing when she's not supposed to, in the earlier series you can often see her starting to crack, especially in scenes with Parsons.

You only have to look at the outtakes to see the reasons why!

I'm sure most people in her situation would do the same, Parsons does seem to be very funny. And it makes all the Penny and Sheldon scenes some of the best in the show - they were certainly the best parts of episode 1!

I thought the Howard and Raj sub-plot in episode 2 was clichéd, but worth it for Bernadette's reaction to the man-boobs examination, and Penny handing over the cream in the very last scene.

Other than that I thought the 2nd episode was ok - the Leonard and Penny reunion fell flat and the argument between Sheldon and Leonard was resolved far too quickly, but the bits between Sheldon and Amy were good.

Introducing more women was the best thing this show did and I love Bernadette. She had a great foot in mouth bit at conference with Amy.

Well I have no idea if there's any ad-libbing or not, but I doubt JP would get into trouble if the lines were funny, given it's the highest rated series on US TV, and they couldn't do it without him.

I dunno, maybe it's always been there and I've just not noticed, but it was a bit distracting this time I thought, although I largely enjoyed the show.

Guy comes home from work trip to surprise girlfriend, doesn't tell best friend who lives across the hall because they want evening alone.

Friend spots two glasses of wine and suspects girlfriend is cheating....

If this show wasn't Friends 2.0 before, it is now. Even Howard's burst of femininity was a story Chandler had.

The actors generally say in interviews that there's no ad-libbing, but the writers do rewrite things during the taping if it doesn't go down well with the studio audience.

I didn't really notice it much this time, but maybe I'm just being lenient on Kaley Cuoco because I know I'd struggle to keep a straight face if it were me!

I think she's looked like she was one step away from cracking up quite a lot. in the situation where her character is meant to find something funny it looks genuine. otherwise it can look a bit unprofessional. happen now she's making so much money she don't care.

i just meant really that in the situation where one actor is making the other laugh by being funny in a comedy show it's difficult to level any accusation at the one who is being funny.

Agree with you there. I've always thought that Kaley Cuoco's acting is not on the same level as the four guys.

Although she delivers her lines well, she often seems to stop "acting" between her lines, both in her expression and her body language. It could be due to having a live audience. The cast often have to wait for the audience to stop laughing before they can say their next line. The guys just seem to handle that (staying in character) better than Cuoco does.

They all need to break up with the women, so it can get back to what it does best.

Episode 3 was poor. Once again spoilt by Amy and Bernadette. Also, the story made no sense, I can't remember why they ended up at the bowling alley then back at the flat and why was Leonard in the lift shaft and the other were not?

Didn't make any sense and little humour.

They went to the bowling alley because of the coordinates under the Rolling Stone's Poster.

I think they were in different places because they might have had different clues at the bowling alley.

Yes but what was the point of the bowling alley?

To prove that Sheldon was more far-sighted than the others in having brought his own bowling ball, I presume?

Fantastic episode this week. Wonderful to see Mayam Balik singing her little heart out to Neil Diamond.

I thought the episode was funny but felt very disjointed, with lots of ideas just thrown in and then either forgotten about, like having Penny be the one to figure out the clue in the geology lab then not having her explain how, or unresolved, like Leonard and Penny's argument.

It was great to have so many classic Sheldon and Penny comedy moments though, and Amy and Howard singing Neil Diamond was hilarious

I noticed this too on 8 Simple Rules. She's only matured slightly with age.

I know what you mean and I've noticed it too. Sometimes it looks like she's struggling not to laugh at a line.

Then again, it can look more natural. If someone is wisecracking around you'd be liable to laugh rather than throw an equally good zinger straight back as everyone does in sitcomland.

And I suppose she's not just in the cast because of her acting abilities...
