I buy those little bags of shelled fresh peas from Marks and Spencers and eat them raw as a snack- sometimes not taking much notice of them, just shovelling them in today I happened to look at the bag as it was almost finished and found a little green caterpillar amongst the peas.

It probably says wash before eating.

8 out of 10 caterpillars can't be wrong

I can't believe no-one has done "it's not just a caterpillar, it's an M&S caterpillar" yet...

They are the 'washed and ready to cook' kind.

Nostalgia!

I was delighted to find a caterpillar in the bag I used to bring my veg home from the farmer's market a few weeks ago. It was a commonplace event when I was growing up, if you were really lucky it would end up on your plate of salad

As a bit of a creepy epilogue- I put the remains of the green caterpillar in the bin-o/h took out the bin bag out of the bin to empty a day or so later, a few hours later he found a little green caterpillar in the porch and put it in the garden- so the pea caterpillar may have survived after all , or maybe he was a new mutant indestructible caterpillar

In the 70s I can remember finding caterpillars in everything from lettuces to garden peas.
