A free game for the first year for all gold subs, not bad, well unless you don't like workouts/fitness.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90vnJ_cNKf0

This is probably a good way for Microsoft to push Kinect and to try and lose some of the negativity that comes with it, lets offer a free game.

I think we should all start complaining about having friends and wait and see if they bundle a free 2nd controller as well

Looks really good, a lot of content. Wouldn't have minded seeing the guys heart rate, I thought he might have struggled but no. Hopefully we will get a digital spy leader board on the go

It's actually one of the few things most people on Neogaf are impressed with/haven't posted as much negative crap as they normally do about the X1.

Yea, just saw this. Been hoping for this since the new kinect was announced. My family will be all over this, especially wih all the challenges etc.

Have done a bit of Insanity and it makes a heckof a difference, didn't finish it due to injury though

Good. I've long thought that fitness ought to be a killer app for the XBox One and the new Kinect.

I'll be giving 'insanity' a go in January.

This is a really good addition for me.

I finally loaded up insanity, is there only the one workout? I have the box set but I prefer the crappy stats that Xbox give me

It was this time last Xmas were I had done 2 weeks, Xmas and new years had come along and I never went back. God it was a struggle, I did it but I had a fair few pauses along the way and I may have skipped the whole 2nd phase of the final workout. The heart rate monitor was very poor, think that it worked 2 out of 8. It didn't rate my semi heart attack at my peak, best I got was 161bpm, you come across it when you hit the start button. Also my Kinect was too low at the start, wasn't picking up my arm movements and when I switched it wasn't high enough, my TV blocked my ground work. My icon guy was a stationary blob below the line. You do get points for flapping your arms about.

I will give this a go every day till next Monday, going to move my sitting room around to accomidate Kinect, bet no one else has ever said that.

Day one score 49,700. My goal isn't to beat this score, it is to do the workout without having any breaks, I wouldn't say no to beating the score though

So I moved my stuff about, stuck Kinect on top of my lamp table, must be about 1m high, but I still found that I had to be about 2.5m away to get myself in full view. Might have to look at a TV mount.

2nd attempt ended with a crash to the dashboard, with no continue. I was on the last phase of the 2nd workout, but I was coming up to 70k, makes a difference when Kinect can track your whole body. On one hand I was peeved off, on the other I was happy not to be completing the workout, drowning in my own sweat

Kinect has confirmed that I have no heart, the heart rate monitor doesn't read any heart beat. Also if I stand close enough I can see my man part blackening out around my grey body, quite disturbing

Does it offer to call you an Ambulance at the end of the workout?

You will probably need to have some Xbox credit handy to cover the cost of MS spying on you and then saving your life, its probably there hidden dlc

Day 3

So I started this at the start of the morning, did the first routine and then the stretches, had over 50k, then Xbox/Kinect decided to stop rating me. Kinect still worked, just no score. Another attempt ruined by sh#tty hardware/software

I went back to dashboard to find my controllers batteries died during workout and that my youview box wasn't showing any TV through Xbox. Had to switch youview of at mains to fix issue. So don't know if either was to blame. I checked the web, you can clear the cache on the one by having your Xbox on, going up to Xbox and holding down the guide button on console for about 5 specs, machine will switch of by itself. You will have to push the button to switch on, and it will take a little bit longer to boot.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSOMUyTjT_A

Anyway I went off and came back on this afternoon, managed to do the whole lot, I was dead going into the final workout, legs were dead, so I got a score of 95.4k, disappointed not to break the 100k mark, but that's the next target. I am finding it quite fun compared to the normal discs, amazing how motivated you are to beat your score.

I tried the Insanity workout yesterday. I consider myself fairly fit but I am nearly 40 Anyway, it practically killed me and I just about hobbled into work this morning. Guess the clue was in the title of the workout.

I was the same when I first got the DVD's, took me 5-6 attempts of doing the first disc, but after that the rest of the first 5 discs were hard but not heart attack material. I never made it onto the 2nd 5 discs, you have 4 weeks on set 1 then 4 weeks on the other. I think the cardio workout is the hardest one in set one. 34 myself, totally crushing my age group

Day 4

Guess what, I got right to the end and another crash back to dashboard. I am really peeved of by it. So I have only managed to complete 2/5 workouts. I was looking at 105-110k of points this time.

Also not liking the lack of leaderboards, just my completed totals, my average and age group average. If you go back into the marketplace and select the game you get a leaderboard of the top 4 friends and there total workout points. 350k over the 5 workouts. I'd say it was more 4 completed workouts. Hopefully there will be an update at some point, and not once the free with gold runs out at the end of the year.

And yeah I am in pain, the back of my legs, calfs? are feeling the pain.

Tomorrow I will boot Xbox up and go straight into the fitness app and see if that helps, might unplug you view box from hdmi in as well

Day 5

Yesterday I received the Kelux Kinect mount and set it up.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/KELUX-Kinect...box+one+kinect

Thought I had the right angle but when it came to the last workout it was hit and miss on giving me any score, so I basically sat the last workout out as I messed with the camera to get the correct angle. Somehow I managed to get 94k, don't know how that happened. It was a struggle from the first jog.

When I was finished I went back in to the fitness to test camera, and I noticed my rug was doing a workout, where my rug is I had the silver static and it was dancing about with my icon. I rolled up my rug and it was just me and Kinect. So it adds more questions of was it the angle of Kinect or my rug that ruined the workout

I switched of my you view box at its off button, not leaving it in standby, plus I went straight onto the fitness app after Xbox loaded, it actually worked this time.

How bizarre with your rug. I have to admit - it made me laugh to think of your rug getting the credit for the workout! How are you finding the other workouts? Only looked at Insanity so far and have only just recovered 3 days on

With the rug, I think it was interfering with my workout, Kinect was picking me up as lying on my @rse . Maybe the sweat created some sort of static type thing yeah I don't know. It wasn't a camera fault because when I rolled it up the image disappeared. Looking at beachbody webpage, it looks like the p90 is the newer workouts. I will give them a go once I get a clean workout on insanity.

http://www.beachbody.com/

I am probably going to use some hard core performance enhancing pills today. My good friend Anadin extra. Only stuff that works for my back at work. It should sort out my legs. They have paracetimal, aspirin and caffeine all in one

So after 3 days are you finding it easier but still dying come the end?

Having a look through my DVD set, the schedule says that this workout plyometric cardio circuit should only be done -

Week 1 - twice
Week 2 - once
Week 3 - twice
Week 4 - once

Then its recovery week, then next 4 weeks is disc set 2. Screw that I want hardcore

Day 6

I got a 99.9% workout today. Kinect didn't score some of my early stretches(easy bankable points) and with some of the ground work I had to sit up when it wasn't registering, to get it to kick in, was quite happy to get a breather, to be honest. My score today was 109,350.

Day 7 is the day of rest, so I will have a look at some of the girly workouts, so I can crush girl power and top the leaderboards, if there is any, on any of the workouts?

Day 7

I went for the workout with the pretty blond in it, Tracy Anderson. I thought this would be a cake walk, just a little bit of stretching right. God my upper body hurts, I did alot of work on my chicken wings At least there was no running in this one.

With this workout though, it said a 10 min workout, so you go in and you have an option of free or pay 24. Obviously I went for the free, which ended up being a 30 min workout.

Kinect had issues with the ground work, think when the red line shows up at the bottom you need to back off? Plus I had issues with doing some of the workouts, co-ordination not the best.

I got 43k, men aged 26-35 average is 26k, that made me smile, I guess there is more guys out there with Kinect issues

Great updates! I'm going to give it another whirl tonight as I've been using the exercise bike most of this week rather than facing my fears of Xbox humiliation again

Will probably undo the good work with a curry and a couple of beers tonight but hey - it's been a tough week

I do reward myself by eating a lot of crap food as a reward as well. I am not that committed that I am ready to change my diet as well.

Day 8

I gave tracy Anderson another go, far easier this time around even though I was sweating for the last 10 mins, it was quite heavy sweat come the end. I managed to get my score up to 55.5k, a nice 12k increase. The funny thing is that the average for 26-35 went down to 25k, a 1k loss. I might have to do this every hour on the hour to get the average up I wonder what the female average score is?

So 30 mins with tracy = 55k
and 40 mins with insanity = 109k

It is good to see them dishing out more points for the harder workout.

So tracy = sore arms
insanity = sore legs

I only have 2 days left before hols are over, not sure if I should go back to insanity or try something else. Once back at work I will probably become lazy again

Day 9

I did this, this morning. Not the best idea after some beer and a chippy the night before. I went back to insanity, to see if the last 2 days of Tracy Anderson had soften me up. After the first jog I knew this was going to be a slog. It was a struggle to complete it and I got a score of 101k.

I haven't had any more issues with the app backing out and losing my workout. Either down to me switching of my set top box at its power or its down to me not pausing the game and trying to use the heart monitor.

I've done the Cardio kick boxing workout twice over the weekend. It's only 10 minutes so I used it as a warm up before doing 30 minutes on the exercise bike.

I have discovered the following:

a) I am not Jean-Claude Van Damme and have the flexibility of a lead pipe

b) I have no sense of rhythm

c) The lady doing the workout is very attractive

d) I am strangely motivated by collecting virtual stamps

All in all, it's good fun and it must be having some benefit. My last score was 24k and men in my age range average 19k. Again, strangely motivating

I am exactly the same here, I don't know how these guys and girls can stretch there body in the insanity stretches. I can get as far as bending my knees. I take it that each routine comes with its own set of stamps?

I received an email from xbox over the fitness app. At the bottom it says that the app is free till jan 2015, after then you will need a fitness pass and a gold sub. They never learn do they. I feel sorry for all the guys on silver that want to get fit.

This is something that the government/nhs should be investing in to tackle obesity. Combining fitness with technology is surely a winner with children and em adults

I didn't bother with a workout today as I was waiting for my training mat to arrive. This adidas mat I bought on amazon should give me a 100% boost to my workout score.

so with less than 1m space it wouldn't work, shame would like a go, love me exercise & walks and will try out if it involves fitness and love stats

will just stick to my up & fuelband & kettlebells & walks.
