When she went backstage for that motivational speech to the girls, I did laugh - you would think they were presidential candidates not contestants for a song contest. I like her usually but she was a bit over the top last night, she was quite the actress playing out the script perfectly.

If anything, her "pep talk" seemed to have the opposite to the desired effect. Her remaining contestants all seemed under extreme pressure and were in floods of tears.....perhaps she should have steered well clear of them

The thing is she knows the business well , she's a flaming good
singer and best if all she's flamin gorgeous !

She's so darn cute that when she's on screen I don't even hear what she's saying , she's that captivating to my mind.

Who? I'm curious.

For me, Nicole is a goddess. I think when Nicole does talk about how amazing she is....some people don't get that she's actually making a joke.

What others members? Oh the backs up right. Nicole was 95% PCD...it was Nicole and backsups but most of the time it was Nicole featuring Nicole's adlibs...

Presidential I think not. All that swearing made it more like Peter Reid in the Sunderland team's changing room

Exactly. Why isn't X Factor more about the judges and why don't they just show porn

The fact they are backs up according to you doesn't prevent them from having an opinion and if they didn't like Nicole, they are entitled to say so.

oh dear, some of the nicole fans are rather "excitable" aren't they? this has got to be one of the most catty threads i have read in ages in places and some people clearly need to learn to deal with conflicting opinions. lets see how i fare with my views.

nicole in work mode is highly ambitious, ruthless and manipulative. in my opinion that is possibly why her long term work colleagues turned against her. nicole certainly carried the pussycat dolls vocally, but she isn't taken seriously out of the context of group in the us. that is why she hasn't had a solo hit record in her home country without using a feature and that is probably the reason why she hasn't released an album over there. she's also not above taking the crumbs from simon's table by accepting the uk factor role shortly after "leaving" the us version of the show with her camp claiming she wanted to "focus on her music".

having said all that, the qualities highlighted in bold aren't necessarily that bad considering the industry she is in and she certainly makes the most of the opportunities open to her. to be a degree, beauty, talent and likeability are subjective opinions, but i honestly believe she processes all these qualities in spades. in terms of the show, i definitely think america's loss is the uk show's gain.

Nicole should take a leaf out of Tyra Banks' book when it comes to giving the girls a pep talk. Tell 'em to quit with their sob stories!

I liked her last year because she stood up to Gary Barlow and made time for all her acts but this year she is annoying especially the other night.
At one stage I thought she was on the drink because she was sitting with her hand in her head most of the time.

Have to say Louis made his own decisions ignoring what the other judges had to say about his acts.
I loved Sharon shouting at the spoilt brat Joseph to sit down twice because he thought he was going to lose his seat

You were amazed to see them bring back a mentor who had got three of her acts to the final four, and two in the final, and then obviously winnning the whole thing with one of them? (Not to mention that she mentored one of her acts to the runner-up spot on her oh-so-terrible season on XFUS)

I think sarcasm goes over the heads of a lot of people.

This says more about the others than it does her, IMO.

Well sincerity is a quality much prized on Simon Cowell produced talent shows. Like Louis, Sharon, Chewlisa et al I'm sure she has it in spades.

I can't say I'm particularly keen on Nicole, as I find her just a tad too in-your-face - not that there's anything wrong with that; just a little offputting for me. However, she's absolutely stunning. If I could have any celebrity's body, it would be Nicole Scherzinger's. And, on the Cheryl-Nicole saga thing, I've always believed that the USA X Factor job was Nicole's all along and Cheryl was used by Simon - and I'm not that much of a Cheryl fan; it just seemed too coincidental to me that Nicole, who is known as a singer, would accept a presenting job and then all of a sudden be promoted to judge when Cheryl got the sack. Going back to this X Factor, despite the fact I find Nicole annoying at times, I'd much rather have her on the show than Tulisa, who I simply loathe and find very arrogant and rude.

Nicole was my favourite judge by far last year but she's not coming across nearly as well this year. It's like she's bought into her own hype. She was very cold when choosing her girls, no real emotion there whatsoever.

Is she suffering from Tulisa's second season syndrome?

I'd like them to vary the judges more often. How on earth has Louis got this gig for so long?

Also, how about a female head judge? Madonna? Cyndi Lauper? Diana Ross? Suzi Quattro? Lady Gaga? Christina Aguilera (yes - I know she's doing the USA Voice but give her the bucks and she'd switch).

Any of those would be fierce.

Or else keep Nicole but also bring in that other PCD who did well in I'm A Celebrity.

Apparently they can't stand one another so that would be pretty cool.

i agree with this.
tbh i find nicole's OTTness really annoying at times. i laughed my head off the first time she told a crying jahmene to grow some balls, but then she realised people found it funny and wouldn't shut up shouting 'balls' out at every possible oppertunity. the whole "schermazing" thing is really grating too and other little things like climbing on the table and flinging her body around screams attention seeking.
BUT, she is incredibly hot (which i suspect is a major, if not the main draw for a lot of people) and a suprememly talented vocalist - no one can take that away from her. i personally don't like the tone of her voice or the style of her music save a few PCD songs (ok, 2), but i do recognise her ability is fantastic. and i think she's a good mentor. she appears to have a lot of life in her, and she's able to transfer some of that into her contestants and pull them out of their shells a bit more. so in that respect, her abundance of energy works. especially in the case of last year, when tulisa was being a moody cow who didn't want to be there, louis was isolated with no one to bounce off of and gary was in grieving for the death of his daughter. that energy was needed then....but not to the same extent anymore, if that makes sense?

what is interesting though, is the interview in which nicole admitted that this persona she puts on is actually a fake one. she's apparently very very quiet and quite somber in 'real life'. but she thought that that wouldn't work on tv so she decided to make an effort to be crazy all the time instead. (it was in a magazine last year. she also responded to cheryl slagging her off for singing cheryl's song to her in an elevator in the same interview. she got really pissed off about it iirc....i will try and find it if i can - ETA: the magazine may have been connected to the sun somehow, in which case i can't access it anymore because the sun have recently changed their system)

overall, sure she can have her moments where you want to temporarily trap her in a box under the table, but i think she does her job well and i do much preferr her to most past female judges, so i'm happy having her. especially over tulisa, who i hated in her first year too. the girl was flippin useless.
