Hello Everyone,
I've applied for tickets for the first time but as I don't live in the UK I need to know whether or not I've been successful so I can make travel arrangements. And for the same reason I have only applied for one week as I am not entitled to take random days off.... when am I likely to hear if I've got tickets to my chosen week which is 17th October?

I got a confirmation email saying I'd been unsuccessful for next weekend's live shows around Tuesday/Wednesday this week, so you should get your successful/unsuccessful email around the 7th October.

I was always under the impression that they sent successful emails slightly earlier than unsuccessful ones but either way, it won't be until a couple of weeks before the show itself.

I have applied for tickets for every date I'm free, for every series & I am yet to receive an email other than the one saying my application had been received.

Does everyone get an unsuccessful email? Do I have a problem?

you SHOULD get an email a couple of weeks before your chosen date if you are successful but sometimes its only a week or so

good luck but dont hold your breath - apparently 4.8 million people have applied for tickets this year, the most ever!!

check your spam folder - they sometimes go in there

they are normally quite good at sending out unsuccessful emails - I have applied for every show and so far I have had emails telling me I am unsuccessful for this weekends show and the friday night ITT recording

ok, so hope this helps - today (24 Sept) I have just gotten a "sorry you were unsuccessful for tickets" email from the BBC for the 10 October show

so, thats, what 16 days notice

it also says at the bottom of the email that "we will keep you on a waiting list in case more tickets become available" Im not expecting any more tickets to become available (fine chance!) but I guess I could be in with a chance of getting some tickets for 10 October in which case the amount of days notice I would get would be less than 16 days

We got there at 5.15 and we were numbers 15 and 16. Numbers 1 and 2 were there at 2am which is a new strictly record! Ticket validation is now at 9 for this series hence everyone was queuing there earlier. Went back at 5 to wait in marquee until ready to go in to studio. XX

****We went back for 5 pm and then were taken into the holding marquee where's there is a bar and snacks sold. There was also a strictly photo booth if you wanted to have a photo taken. Waited there awhile as they were still practicing the group dance. Went in to the studio in our number order that we were given yesterday morning. The lower the number the closer to the dance floor. We were 15 and 16 and were at the bottom of the stairs going up to Claudia so not seen in camera but lots of opportunities to speak to the professionals and judges before filming. Then they recorded a group dance for tonight's show which is amazing! Then they went live at 9. It's a long day but so worth it. 😀😀

This post seems to be the most useful & recent. Seems the secret is to queue early, get validated then you have most of the day to yourself.

Not good news.... just as well I didn't invest in a plane ticket. They don't give you much time to get organised, do they.

Lucky enough to have got tickets for 31 October - was just wondering if there's any more advice/tips on the timings for this year with ticket validation taking place from 9am. Intending to drive down from Sheffield which isn't too bad but want to figure out the best time to set off!

Not sure of your journey times but people have been queuing from 2 am and I think someone said they queued from about 8 am and were about 150th in the queue.

To give yourself a guaranteed chance of entry, I wouldn't intend to turn up after 10 am.

For the launch show we got there at 9.10. The staff went through a great rigmarole of sucking teeth and saying we might not get in, and then let us in with tickets about 310. When we went back at 3pm people were still arriving for the fist time, and getting in with tickets numbering 450+, which really pissed us off. The whole thing is a nonsense.

The good news is, if you have a car, you can go away for the day and do something interesting rather than hanging about Boreham Wood High Street. Don't rush to get back because although they say come back at 3, you don't get in until at least 4 and then you hang around, standing, in an unventilated tent with few chairs and one working loo for about 2 hours. (these were the timings for the launch show, the live shows might be different). Your ticket number dictates when you go into the Studio, so you can arrive as late as you like for the second bit.

Trying to start a campaign to stop the BBC treating their audience with such contempt!

I was lucky enough to get tickets for the first show on Friday 25th Sept. We had read that tickets were being validated from 9am so we arrived at 6.15am and we were validated with tickets 59 & 60. The people at the front of the queue were there at 2am!! The next batch of people had got there around 5am. I would definitely suggest to take a chair and a blanket as it gets chilly just sitting there. There is Tesco and McDonalds very close by for refreshments. We had a great time in the queue and got chatting to the 2 couples either side of us and even met up with them later when we had to go back. Once we had got our tickets validated at 9am we were free to go and didn’t have to be back until 5pm (think this will be earlier for the Saturday shows as they air earlier), so we had the whole day to do prepare! I did hear of people arriving at 11.45 and not even getting out of their car and getting tickets validated with number around the 480 mark, but I wouldn’t suggest leaving it that late – especially if you want to get a good seat downstairs.

We went back for 5pm and at this point it doesn’t matter how early you get back as you are let into the holding area and then called into the studio in number order. In the holding area there is a bar (bit pricey) and there was a photo booth. People are constantly announcing what will happen once in the studio and reminding you to visit the toilet as once in the studio you aren’t able to leave. We were in the holding area for roughly an hour before being let into the studio. We got seats on the 2nd row next to the family and friends section which was a fabulous view. Danny Dyer wasn’t too far awy from us!

The warm up guy was brilliant and once everyone was seated they pre-recorded a pro dance which was wonderful. Then after an intro to Tess & Claudia it was show time! Such a fantastic experience and one I would do again in a flash! I was slightly disappointed that our show was only 1 hour and we didn’t get to see everyone dance but I just count myself lucky that I got tickets!

Tips for the day – get there early, take a chair and a blanket, make friends in the queue, put on your posh frock and enjoy the show. (And use the very nice portaloo’s before you enter the studio). Enjoy 

I have tickets for this Saturday the 17th, I'm flying over from Ireland especially! any more tips out there for what time roughly to start queuing?? I don't think I can bear the thought of 2am! :s

Could someone please give clear instructions on how to get to the entrance where they start queuing?

I went this Saturday, the earliest time people were there was 3.15, I got there at 10 (later than I wanted but i had a long drive) and was number 460 so pretty much one of the last but I still got a fab seat on the front row of the balcony....much better than the 2 groups who went in in before me and were downstairs in the corners.

In terms of there to queue, your ticket will tell and there are signs directing you to the queueing point - for me it was down a road to the left as you look at Elstree.

I can confirm that being upstairs is no bad thing at all. Better than being at the back of downstairs. Yet upstairs get let in last.

If you are coming by train, come out of Elstree Station and turn right, along Shenley Road. Go past the huge Tesco and you can't miss Estree Studios. Takes about 10/15 minutes walk. Where they queue has differed the two times I've been, but there will be production staff around to direct you. One time it was at the front of the Elstree Studio (on Shenley Road). The other time was a bit further on, down Maxwell Road on the right, in Maxwell Park. All clearly visible on Google maps.

Don't let the BBC staff bully you. If you don't like your seat, ask to be moved. The production staff couldn't really care less, and seem happy to move you.
