Bumping this thread ready for the new year - I know a few of us (me included!) are heading to the launch show, plus the ballot for live show tickets will be opening soon, so I'm sure any tips etc would be greatly appreciated.

Transfer of tickets
My husband and I both entered the ballot and he has won two tickets for the show on Saturday 24th September 2016. Unfortunately he now has to go away on business so can't go but I'm hoping I can use the tickets as he would have been taking me anyway. The only trouble is that the tickets have his name on them and it states they are not transferable. Has anyone else used tickets given to them by someone else or heard that it is ok to do this. I'm hoping that if I take his passport with me they will let me use them as we have the same surname. What do you think?

As long as you have tickets, they usually don't mind whose name they're in. You should be fine.
As far as I know the 'non-transferable' bit just means you can't swap them for a different show.

So you can bring a family member or friend . If you still have any niggling doubts, bring the passport for ease of mind . Have a great night . |

What a nice 'strictly' community this is. Thank you for your replies. My concern stems from the following web page but hopefully it will be OK!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/f...n_transferable Since the move to Elstree, the stewards tick you off on a list - by surname and postcode - or surname, city/town and postcode. You just need to be able to recite the name/address/postcode detail WITHOUT referring to the ticket - which presumably you will be able to do. Or perhaps you can take a bloke/rentabloke for your plus 1!? |

Great day out! October 2016 update.
Just wanted to update you on the format of the day and timings as it has changed a bit since last posts. We were late getting our email confirmation (5 days before the show!) So had to drive down to Elstree. I just set my satnav to the Elstree community centre on Maxwell road. Luckily managed to get a spec and we got there just after 7am. The queue was quite long by then but we held firm and managed to get tickets validated and we were just after the 250 mark then. The queue went on behind us right up the hill towards the corner so not sure if everyone got in ok. They scan the ticket at the top and put a sticker on. If you use your mobile you must have some paper handy as the sticker is needed to get you in. A lady walks up and down in a black BBC coat and takes a count every so often saying roughly how many are there. Once validated we went to London for a few hours then checked in to our hotel. Quick change and off to the studio for 3.30pm. same queue again but moving. Once inside bar prices are steep and crammed. My wife is hard of hearing so I spoke to Sophie who was the girl with the Mic and she spoke to other production staff who placed us opposite the judges so she could see them properly. This was right by the celebrity friends and family.
Just a note of caution the first 32 people who braved the freezing cold (first one there at midnight) were sat where the cameras are so you get the view everyone gets back home. You are not sat by the stairs or by the judges so beware! The worst part was their view was obscured by the cameras so had to rely on a Tv monitor to see what was going on for parts of the show! Order of the show warm up guy Stuart Holdham quite funny getting us up then they film the Sunday night live act who was LeAnn Rimes. Then get the judges, tess, Claudia and dancers on to get ready for live show. Both Saturday and Sunday night shows are filmed and a break in between to go the toilet or photo booth then finished just before 10.30. In summary a long long day but well worth it! |

Thanks for your post. It's good to know how the show works and in what order everything is filmed.

Alternative place to stay
First time posting on here, so I hope I am in the right place?
My partner and I were very lucky to get 'production' tickets for Strictly on 12th November. We had a fabulous time and I consider us very fortunate to have had the priviledge of this special entry. I can but admire the tenacity of those of you who hang in for the public lottery and still have to queue (in the rain as it turned out!) but still bring joy and fun to this great show. Just in case anyone else reading this has production tickets it may help to know that you dont have to arrive until 4.30pm and there is no need to have them validated earlier. It would have helped us to know this in advance as we did not get an email until 4 days beforehand. There were a sticky few moments though as they searched for our names on the list! We struggled to find anywhere to stay overnight that was reasonably priced and lucked into a brilliant Airbnb nearby. If you want to stay two nights (minimum stay) as we did, having travelled from Cornwall on the Friday, you might want to give it a try. If you search the Borehamwood area on airbnb you will see it called "Almost London". Have a look at my comments to see if it would suit you. It is only two streets away and about an 8 minute walk to the studios. Keep Dancing! |
