Have just got a Humax YouView DTR-T1000 but have loads of programs i would like to save and transfer from my Foxsat HRD - is this possible without removing the hard drive?

Don't think you can transfer them at all. Youview seems to be a very locked down system to the point you can't even watch media files via usb.

Sure its not possible, whether or not you remove the HDD makes no difference.
