Why Tennant did it for me.

(Well, why not, there's too much negativity on this forum.
And, if you want to be negative, you have the mirror opposite thread for that, so go post in there instead )

Ten was funny. From the moment he screamed "I DON'T KNOW!" in the Sycorax's voice to mock him, I knew he'd be my favourite Doctor.
Quoting the Lion King was just the icing on the cake

Yes, you might think the show is about aliens, fighting evil, amazing adventures or the relationship between the Doctor and companions, but tbh the funniest episodes are the best ones for me. And Ten and his companions brought out the fun and absurdity of time and space travel more than any other.
Your mileage may vary.

QFT! Can't we just like all the Doctors for their individual merits? I love Tennant's Doctor, one of my favourites along with Tom, Peter, Matt and Colin!

3 pages of Negative posting in the "hate" thread, 1 post of positive posting in the "LOVE" thread.

This forum is far, far too negative.

I rest my case

Tennant was special. Although so are all the Doctors in their own way - it's why the show is still running after 50 years.

I wouldn't say exactly that Tennant 'did it for me.', but I did like his Doctor. I think after all the rudery and patronising of Eccleston's Doctor, which I didn't take to that well, was that Tennant was far more what the Doctor should be, which is a mixture of authority and humour, plus he treated people with a bit more courtesy than his predecessor.

As someone who's watched and been a fan since the mid-60s (well, apart from the McCoy years because I could never, ever, be a fan of that embarrassing mess), Jon Pertwee will always be my favourite Doctor.

But David Tennant runs him a very close second for me. I can pay him no higher compliment than that.

I don't suppose anyone will ever surpass early Tom Baker for me.. Tennant was watchable I'll give him that... but I preferrred Chris myslef. Matt's been a good actor but at times I just find it a little hollow... I'm not even sure that's the right word. I know what I mean but don't know what the right word is...

But the other thread is mostly people defending Tennant (and the OP's original post in that thread is more about his feelings about the Tenth Doc' as a character anyway, rather than Tennant's performance).
