Joseph Whelan has announced a gig in Glasgow on 31st October.

Surely if he's made it through, he wouldn't be able to do such gigs?

He should have canceled it, xfactor is more important surely?

I think their contract would say "I have no gigs or appointments booked" or words to that effect

If he's just announced it then surely it's something he arranged recently, i.e. after getting kicked off?

Well he's obviously doing his best to make the most of the exposure he got.

Fair play to him. I didn't watch xf last year so haven't seen him before. He seems to have a bit of a following.

He should change his name to Joey and stop going on about his son and crying every 5 minutes and he could do well. There's still a massive market for rock.

The gigs are listed on his website. Some of them have an asterisk with the comment 'subject to tv commitments' or words to that effect.

Well if he's doing gigs then he doesn't get much further.

Lucy Spraggan said last year that it's in the contract when you get through to live shows that you can't do any of your own gigs (apart from personal appearances/nightclub gigs arranged for you by management) until after the XF Tour has ended. Joseph would be in breach of this by these dates. Not to mention that the tickets for some of these dates are only going on sale this week. If he knew he would have to cancel them then surely they wouldn't put them on sale in the first place?

To me, this says that he can't get through to lives.

Blimey I hope he doesn't get through, he is mediocrity personified. I'd actually be more supportive if him getting through if he was more annoying, then we could at least have fun taking the mickey but he's sooooooo bland.

I would be amazed if he doesnt get through.
He's the only guy in Sharon's category, plus the producers will want to push him through to the lives without a doubt.

There are much stronger singers than him in that category though, and better stage performers. That van driver was great on stage and sang well, the prison officer was superb vocally, the last lass was excellent and the others aren't too shabby either.

Joseph is the weakest by a distance. Even his name is wrong. I don't want a Rock God called Joseph. I want him to be called Joey.

He has a good look but everything else is wrong. The tears, the tantrums, the sentimentality over his son.....

Nah.

Not for me.

you realise last night was not live? it happened some time ago and judges houses were beginning of september so he may well be done with the show. Judging by the gig in glasgow he wouldn't be doing that in the middle of lives
