You are David Tennant, and I claim my five pounds.

Great story. Got the DVD on Saturday, the newly recovered footage of the TARDIS arriving is interesting.

That 5 pounds crap is so old and boring now. I just don't get why people even bother saying it.

Is that in the special directors cut?

You're quite right, I'm going to go and make a video of hitler complaining about it.

Yes. You have to go to the menu and select directors cut on.

Thank you. I'm there!

My partner's not into Who particularly, but I have gone on and on about Terror of the Zygons SO MUCH over the years he has actually asked if he can watch it with me!

I didn't ask him, he asked me. Honest!

If I had £5 for every time I've read someone making that complaint I'd have....£5. Which I could then give to Lii for spotting David Tennant. And so the circle is complete.

Shame the extended version is not the default version. Similar thing on invasion of the dinosaurs when the black and white and not colour version of ep 1 was the default option. Anyone else found the easter egg trailer for the power of the daleks DVD?

I didn't find one, but if you were going to put Power of the Daleks out you explicitly wouldn't put in a trailer because the absence keeps the speculation going for longer amongst real fans. So this proves that it is coming out.

I also got my copy today!! I haven't been this excited about a DVD since the release of the Daemons. I always start with the Audio Commentaries (is that sad?) and it's a shame Tom Baker's not on this one!

In real life: no. In the minds of those subscribing to any of a series of vague, diverse rumours: yes. Or, if you hold the contrary viewpoint, in real life: yes. In the minds of those falling for the BBC's cross-departmental heavily-coordinated mass conspiracy of lies: no.

See: Missing episode discovery rumours ... ?

That is a fair point actually, the fact people find the Hitler video amusing after so many of them (each as crap as the last one) is even worse.

Honestly. Sometimes I don't know why I even bother starting a thread these days!

It all went a bit meta when someone made a video of Hitler complaining about the Hitler videos, and that was about five years ago.

The I claim thing is actually ancient, I think private eye have had it as a recurring joke for their entire printed history. Those of us that read the eye are allowed to carry on using it even when the meme users think it's so last year.

I sympathise. That said, it wouldn't be DS if some grumpy old sod didn't hijack it and take it off into a wholly irrelevant and miserable tangent, would it...?

As for your original post - yes, I can't wait to see it, either. Sadly, although I know it's arrived at home, I'm not there and so have to wait until weekend.

Damn - you've found me out!

To get back on thread...
Terror Of The Zygons is SUPERB (it would be even better if the Skarasen had been just a teeny bit more realistic in those final scenes).
But it's such a cracking story, moves at a perfect pace, filled with excellent performances from everyone, Tom and Liz at their best, great sets (the interior of Forgill Castle is excellent) arguably the best monster design in the classic series (in fact, I'd argue these are the best designed monsters ever in Who) a cool spaceship explosion and one my favourite lines when the Doctor promises to get Sarah back to London '5 minutes ago'. Brilliant stuff.

I haven't got the DVD yet, but I will asap. Does anyone know why it took so long to release this? Did they simply want the DVD series to got out with a bang?

I remember watching a schools programme, back in 1975, showing some of the behind the scenes work on Zygons (mainly stuff in the quarry, blowing up the Zygon ship as I remember). Is this programme on the DVD as an extra?

My (serious) thought about the Zygons, has always been damn, the design talent on the show back then was just astonishing at times.

The Pertwee era had some truly brilliant brilliant make-up, Silurians and Draconians to mention just two. When the show really did run out of money, we got the bubble wrap maggot (Ark in Space), but when someone splashed out with a whole 2p, they somehow delivered Zygons and Davros.

It's really amazing what they did on such a small budget and the limited technical resources of the 70's. Especially compared to US TV at the time, which could never manage much more than someone with a bit of latex on their head and a lick of paint.

Bubble wrap was brand new at the time, and not the common-or-garden stuff that everyone sees nowadays. DW has always done unusual things with new technology!

I haven't got the DVD yet, but I know the story back-to-front. Some praise for Sister Lamont: utterly chilling performance from Lillias Walker.
