When they showed off the Dualshock 4 with the lightbar one of my very 1st comments was that a concern I had was it causing reflections on the TV, Seems it was a valid concern-

considering you can't turn it off & how some games will cause it to change color, flash etc...,
This could be a massive distraction if your TV is especially prone to reflections (as mine is, as is the bezel).

With the camera not mandatory they shoudl just let us turn the lightbar off, the speaker as well to be honest.

I see what you mean, but she was pointing the DS4 right at the screen at an odd angle which you wouldn't normally playing this type of game. She was also virtually sat in the screen too.

It's not something I've thought about before to be honest, I'm sure turning it off will become an option at some point though.

Paul.

The light bar seems like a silly idea now the camera is no longer compulsory!

Oh well they removed it to lower the price of the console so we'll have to see what happens!

I've played on PS4 and if there was any reflection I certainly didn't notice..

Won't having the light on constantly kill the joypads battery?

(I even switch off the rumble features on my PS3 / 360 & WiiU pads 2 make em last longer!)

When i hold the controller i dont point it at the tv, its usually a lot lower than TV level so cant see it being a problem

I'm sure it will last long enough to get you through a heavy gaming session. Plus, PS4 can recharge the pad while switched off so it will always be ready for the next session.

just an led, not likely to kill the battery or cause much reflection.

Not a surprise really as the current red light on DS3 can cause some reflection in the right (or should that be wrong) light.

I hope it doesn't take too long for an option to switch off the light to appear in the system settings.

The reflection doesn't appear to be coming from the controller but another light source. Watch towards the end as they pick up and put down the controller, the reflected light stays in the same place.

Agree wholeheartedly, the blue is not the reflection from the lightbar as said by denzil28, if you look at her hands the light is green not blue look here and I have circled the reflection which to be honest is not very big considering how close she is to the TV. Watch the video and you can see it moving

Personally I'm never that close to the TV and I'm sitting at a lower level than the screen, I don't see this being too much of a problem IRL.

Reflections or not, Still think they should have an option to turn it off.

I don't care about any of its features, Same with the little speaker that's on the pad, Its all stuff I don't want.

I may just take the pad apart & disconnect both if possible.
