Suppose it depends on how you rate her personally if she is over rated, but the majority seem to think she is more than worthy of a place in the finals, if you listen to her youtube songs, you will see she has perfect tone, a range to be envied by majority of singers out there, soul in her voice for 1 so young.. She also comes across as a caring, driven, hard working young girl and i know for a fact she has a heart of gold.
She looks like a popstar as they say...
So i can see totally why she is rated so highly by some... i do not get why she is vilified for applying for the Xfactor again this year bear in mind she is only 19, people forget that!

and even so, can we just point out for a second that the population of london alone is greater than the population of the entirety of the country of ireland?? north and south combined. it's TWICE that of the the republic's, and slightly under 8 times that of the north's.

She's by far the most talked about contestant that's for sure.

She would be out in the first few weeks guaranteed .

When it comes to X Factor there are never any guarantees really it never goes how you expect anything can happen.

Haha. Whether she is hated or liked she is the MOST talked about contestant EVER so either people love her or are protecting their faves but she defo has something otherwise people wouldn't be talking about her.

You can't say that is all down to her being a returning contestant since Jade is not getting much chat on this forum and she has auditioned more times.

Yes the judges can build her up but it is up to the public either to ignore it or talk about her so clearly something IS working in her favour

i think if they have/had've put Jade or Melanie to the lives they will have the public behind them as most like a fighter...

I disagree. Anytime I have talked about X Factor, whether here, forums I run or in person, people bring Melanie up and 99% of the time it's positive.

The people on this forum are over critical of her. She has so much more to give and it's a shame X Factor wont give her a chance to show what she's capable of.

She's just average. Definitely no "X factor" with her.

You've hardly seen anything of her. She's been given a bunch of shit songs.

As she can sing the biggest Whitney tracks flawlessly, note perfect and hit the biggest notes and then more, that is not average, especially for a white girl. I don't remember a single white girl on X Factor ever doing Whiney songs justice or even capable of doing so.

She would absolutely smash any big number given to her. I don't believe there is any song too big for her, her range is endless.

Voting from the Republic was allowed from 2010 onwards. Jedward were a bit unlucky in that Irish viewers never had the chance to vote for them and in spite of that they never once finished bottom of the poll.

England/London are not patriotic. Their votes will be spilt. Melanie would pretty much get all of Irelands votes. That would be enough to secure her a place in the final and she'd also be winning support week in week out from brits, as she blows them away over and over.

She is too generic, bland and lacks an edge.

She just has nothing to her its not all about 'The Voice' you nee to have something that will make you different ! Her performances lack ANY real emotion. And you can't blame her songs she could have made the one that got away Amazing or diamonds but she didn't she made them generic covers
