Not heard this much hype for Eastenders for years. If you think Danny's character is going to be good or not you can't deny the hype it's caused - negative or positive any publicity is good publicity. First time I've come into work and people have been talking about Eastenders - the same on twitter it's been trending since the news was announced. Good signs for the show I think.

People, always talk about EE though. Regardless of it not doing well its always talk about. I think all this has done has made it be talked about even more.

Let's hope the writers can write to the hype it caused, really got my fingers crossed that this is the beginning of Eastenders becoming the soap it used to be.

EE: Everyone's talking about it

How bad it is.

EE could bring Brad Pitt and Michael Douglas into the show. it still wouldn't be enough to get it back on track.

Nope. Apart from a few exceptions it looks like Danny Dyer's casting has gone down well. Can't wait for DTC's work to start showing.

Everyone I've spoken to today is also talking about EE and I've only heard excitement. They were buzzing about it on all the morning shows. When was the last time that happened? The only place I'm hearing bad comments about Danny is , surprise surprise, this forum!

But hey it wouldn't be DS if this wasn't the case.

Well the news has gone down a storm, and I've read through the threads and comments and mostly the response has been very positive.

But then i wouldn't expect you to have anything positive to say about EE...

Bringing in Danny Dyer won't boost the ratings. if the writing is still bad the current problems will still exist.

Well there's a lot of people saying they'll be tuning in to see him so it might just do the trick. DTC means business, so I'm expecting major improvements to be made.

Watch out ITV, he's coming to get you...

Yes, I love DD, but he still isn't enough to make me want to watch again on a regular basis, big names do not always equate good quality stories.

It's totally deliberate I suspect that such a high profile casting has been announced and will debut over the Christmas period when EE gets its highest ratings. This will be the make or break moment where people who perhaps have drifted away from EE or are only casual viewers will sit in on Christmas Eve/Day etc and give the show another go whilst they recover from a dose of turkey and tinsel.

More people will tune in to see that now because of this casting. Combine these arrivals with a Doctor Who regeneration on Christmas Day, and I think ITV may be sunk before the schedules have even been announced.

Last Request is right in one way, that the writing and standard of storylines has to improve greatly.

That said, Danny Dyer's casting has created a very positive buzz which is most welcome after a year of falling ratings, atrocious writing and an inept producer in Lorraine Newman. Love and Warmth, I ask you!

It's a genius casting, it's nowhere near enough to save the show alone, but it's a good move.

Yep, a definite step in the right direction.

The soap needs pulling forward. It was groundhog day with Newman in charge. This is why it is never a good idea to promote someone who has been behind the scenes for 17 years to the top job. At a time when Enders needed change and was beginning to sag, all she did was preside over it and let it happen, possibly because she didn't see it.

Finally, a new fresh set of eyes and Albert Square is finally under new management, and he means business

Nobody has mentioned this news to me. Only on the forums people are talking about it. In real life, nobody cares!

Things are certainly looking up but it's a shame we can only muster 6 - 7 million viewers. We should certainly be on at least 8m for Monday's instalment this time of year.

Exactly. He'd actually struggle to make Eastenders any worse...which says a lot about Eastenders.

Danny won't stay for very long. Reeks of desperation from DTC bringing in well known actors rarely works. This news sounds like something you would hear on April fools day.

Corrie's stunt casting has not worked out and Michelle Collins is generally considered a decent actress. Dyer can't act for toffee and if he is going to basically play himself I predict this will be a disaster and by next summer there will be calls to axe him. Derek Branning all over again!

Its always the same users who never have a good word to say about the show saying the exact same thing. 'This is terrible, This is a disaster in the making etc'

Its just becoming obvious some of you want EE to fail so no matter what they try to do will never be enough.

They are taking a huge risk by putting an entirely new family into the Vic but no risk no glory. If it flops it flops but at least they are trying something different which is what the same people moaning now have been crying out for.
