Can guitar bands ever be cool again?

If so will it mean the end of shows like x-factor where the artists rely on synths, sampling, computers and autotune?

Any guitar band who goes on the X Factor immediately loses any right to be called cool.

Guitar bands in the real world continue to do just fine.

I like both types. I would like to see more band-bands in the charts though but the variety is nice.

Strictly speaking, there are no bands on X-Factor,guitar or otherwise. A band plays instruments, the most you see on X-Factor is a vocal group with one member strumming an acoustic. That's not really a band

As for guitar bands being cool, if you go out to your local live music venue, you'll find plenty of guitar based bands all rocking out, some better than others, but there's plenty out there if you can be bothered to look for them
