Said much the same in another similar thread (post #13):

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...ighlight=twist

Some see the difference as a bit picky.

Maybe it's a case of a good twist should perhaps be unexpected, but the unexpected isn't always a twist.
that's a very good way of putting it actually

Now You See Me.

Not because it's a brilliant twist, quite the opposite in fact, the film does nothing to properly set this up and when it's revealed you're going "OH WHAT A COP OUT"

Executive Decision. Stephen Seagal's early demise. No one thought Stephen Seagal would sign up to an action pic where he's killed off early!!

Start with the obvious one... Fight Club. Went to see it at the cinema with my best Uni mate and when the twist came we just looked at each other with a sort of "Woah!" expression.

Deep Blue Sea - Not Sam Jackson getting chomped halfway though but Saffron Burrows, the 'heroine' of the film, getting ripped to bits right at the end. I read that she was supposed to live but the test audiences hated her character so much the studio tacked on the death scene and frankly I can believe that because I hated her character in this film so much I actually cheered in the cinema when it happened. I wasn't the only one.

Loads of good ones already mentioned:
Se7en
The Village
Sixth Sense
The Usual Suspects
Fight Club
Shutter Island

K-PAX - at the end was he an alien or a loon?

I thought The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas had a very sad and unexpected ending.

Saw.

Although I was thinking "come on, there has to be more to it than this weird guy running the whole show", the final twist didn't occur to me once throughout.

Yes, I was thinking of that one too.

My favourite has to be the ending of Se7en, didn't see that coming!

I know we're not talking TV series, but the Soprano's........ Hurt my head good & proper!

I remember all the hype about the twist of "The Sixth Sense" - I think one of the actors revealed it on a US chatshow - and Bruce Willis complained about it. Anyway, after hearing all the positive hype, and seeing Barry Norman's review of it on Sky Movies(remember when he had a film review on there?) - I went to watch it at the cinema. Yeah, "the twist" did surprise me - you sort of get that it is quite obvious afterwards - but I didn't see it coming. Still a powerful twist that leads weight to the story though.

I love movies like that, they have so much rewatch value as you notice little things that you didn't before.

Movies with twists like that last the test of time because everyone likes to be shocked/surprised.

Forget Me Not

a B list horror movie with a budget cast, but very cruel twist at the end which is worth it.

I suppose it has a twist of sorts, The Machinist, a film you need to watch again just to figure it out .
