I've asked for the duplicate I did on this a couple of hours back to be deleted to start anew, so here goes.

Will try and keep this updated as regularly as I can. Feel free to leave any comments - positive or negative (or somewhere in between).

EastEnders to do mental health plot

The popular BBC1 soap is set to cover mental health issues over the course of the next year or so, according to top sources.

Helpline rates are expected to surge tenfold as viewers watch this story unfold. The current executive producer, who wishes to be known only under the pseudonym 'Doctor Bench', commented: 'fans will be in for a right treat with this one, as it's quite a complex story, including revelations and climaxes to unfinished plots'. He further commented, 'As for what sort of mental illness it is and who exactly will be involved, I couldn't possibly tell you at this stage! Let's just say that truths that should've been revealed time ago will emerge'.

These high-profile stories are expected to improve the ratings of this troubled serial, an average episode seldom reaching more than 7 million nowadays.

Looking forward to this story or will it be another anti-climatic letdown? Wait and see.

Over a dozen get the chop from EastEnders

13 characters are set to bow out of Walford over the next few months, top sources reveal.

The characters of Lauren, Abby, Joey, Fatboy, Poppy, Lucy, Whitney, Ava, Sam, Dexter, Tamwar, AJ and Alice are all leaving upon a mutual decision that their characters had nowhere else to go and had run their courses.

Executive producer Doctor Bench commented, 'All soaps need regular cast clear outs to ensure that viewers do not tire of characters, or the show in general. It's all about keeping it fresh, providing a solid platform for the new era. I wish them the very best in the future.'

EastEnders has come under intense flack lately from fans and the media alike, criticising it having very little in the way of engaging stories. Will the new guy save this failing serial or is the quality going to continue deteriorating?

Find out more and keep an eye open over the next few days and weeks.

Spoiler

Granted, most of the above stories are terrible but here I'm focusing on drawing them to a close and deliberately missing out David/Carol/Masood.

13 is a lot of characters to get rid of? Will you be axing them sporadically or in one hit?

It is a fair bit but all I listed are useless characters. Kim should be on there as well, making it 14. Still on the fence about the Butchers/Jacksons (bar Carol) but if Bianca was ever written out the focus would be on her being tempted to work - perish the thought - outside of Walford and get her tedious money issues sorted.

Yes, I'd get rid of them quite soon after each other, but no explosive exits or anything. Bores played by incompetent actors/actresses needn't get high-profile ones. It could just be as simple as moving out of a shanty East End borough, which people actually do.

Sharon remains oblivious to her evil son and simultaneously wonders what has become of those who left in very interesting circumstances during her last stay in Walford. Meanwhile, Fatboy and Poppy are kicked out by their landlord so decide to leave for a cheaper resort.

Carol, after having talked to a therapist about her issues, feels much more in charge and ready to look after the children - just as well, Bianca has been involved in a brutal car crash, unbeknown to them all.

Tamwar begins to think about moving on with his life, as do Dexter and Abi.

I'm aware these episodes sound absolutely appalling but s I said earlier, I'm trying to write out all the shit characters in one go and wrap up these dodgy stories. The Carol thing is a bit out of nowhere but I'd rather Bianca didn't return and Carol was given the opportunity to mother the kids.

A Chrissie return is a brilliant idea. I hope she interacts with Sharon and has lots of fights with Kat.

Thanks very much, guys. I just thought that given Sharon being back it would be plausible to bring back other Watts for a bit as well. But I'd want a decent bunch to write for them, which is why Sarah would be back for Chrissie.

Carol and the kids bond over a meal, all increasingly at ease with Bianca's 'temporary' absence. Denny abuses yet another character - as Sharon walks in. Is her oblivious pampering about to come to a halt? Ian makes a stand against Carl.

Viewing figure = 9.44m (43.6%).

Been over a month since I last had a bash so:

Ian considers facing the full force of the law, admitting to Peter and Lucy he often contemplates owning up. Increasingly edgy, he breaks down and fears it may be best for fear of a mental relapse. He becomes somewhat haunted by the traumatic memories of his difficult prior year, which leads to a heart-to-heart with the pair. He worries about what Denise may do if she finds out.

Elsewhere, Sharon feels she owes an apology to the likes of Whitney and Dot. The latter invites her in for a cup of tea, welcomed by the tragic but overdue news of Pat's demise, providing a reflection of the extent of her disregard for her childhood community since her return. Dot offers her a word of advice and tells her not to worry about it.

Lauren, offscreen for weeks, is revealed to have been thinking about her future prospects and together with Abi, who can't bear to fare without her mum and sister, bid an emotional farewell to Max.

Viewing figure: 10.35m (42.6%).

EastEnders: returnees explained, writing team changes

Digital Spy can exclusively reveal the returnees to step foot in E20 again.

Executive producer 'Doctor Bench' elaborates, 'EastEnders by and large has a fantastic cast capable of a lot but quite a few have been lacking in supporting characters and the sense of family has been rather fragmented in recent years. Therefore, Chelsea will return early next year to shake up the Fox clan; Zsa Zsa, Dean and Carly for Shirley; Chrissie to complete much unfinished business in the square; and Vicki, as part of the magnificent Watts dynamic.'

New character Tina will also be introduced as Shirley's sister, causing friction initially but they soon learn to appreciate each other. More details will emerge closer to her debut.

However, Bench is clearly wary of the revolving door and adds, 'Trying to create a balance is crucial and whilst established old faces is a nice thing to see, we need to also create the next generation for the show, especially as it comes out of a rough patch. Think of it as a balance between old, current and new!'

Watch out for the interview.

Sharon feels a closer connection to Dot succeeding the bond, which draws her to question Dennis junior about her motives.

Shirley, living in her own flat, becomes isolated having nobody there after distancing herself from Phil, and it isn't long before she hits the booze again.

Carol receives some bad news about Bianca.

Shirley, struggling to come to terms with the prospect of isolation, continues on the path to self-destruct and matters are heightened when she finds out that Sharon, in a now much stronger place, has mustered up the courage to re-ignite old flames and take over the Vic. The pair exchange words and the latter reminds Shirley that at least she hasn't abandoned her kids, which hits Shirley hard.

In other news, the Butcher/Jackson household are thrown into turmoil upon the news of Bianca and Ricky's lives hanging in the balance, shock waves sent across the square. Janine opens up about her worries, showing a vulnerable side to her. Will the added pressure of looking after Scarlett drive her to the edge?

Ian faces up to his fears and explains the matter to Denise, who isn't best pleased. He prepares for a court day from hell, facing increasing alienation from his family. Phil is furious upon the news of his target lying for Carl, so gives him a beating, calling him a loser and how it's no wonder his family are turning on him.

9.97 million, 46.3%.
