What will this bring to the show and how will it affect contestants.

Me personally I think this is giving a massive advantage to the last 2 performances. So who ever gets the pimp slot or last but one surely wouldn't be near the bottom 2 as they have 10 mins to think about it and vote right away!!!

Wonder how this will affect the "death" and "pimp" slots? Probably not much, if at all. And to be honest this does just seem a little "gimmicky". Guess it all comes down to how they implement it.

What I instantly wondered is what happens in a deadlock situation. There won't be any tension as we would already know who came bottom

Last slot even more important, first slot likely to be most forgotten or not even seen by those flicking over for the end.

This is just a ploy to increase viewing figures at the end of the shows on saturdays and ensuring people stay tuned in for the whole show rather than catching up on youtube or a repeat before voting.

Viewing figures, that is all.

This doesn't seem to make sense. At least it saves one (small, since they did finish last in the voting) group of fans the pain of voting over and over again.

The only positive I can see is it might encourage fans to vote for their favourites when they only have ten minutes to save their favourite from being guaranteed bottom two.

Which leads me to believe that Simon will be involved in the vote off

In Britain's Got Talent in the earlier series, they would only give viewers 10 minutes to vote.

In the first series, every act that performed last in the semis and the final was voted straight through. Same happened in the second series with the semis, but the act that performed last in the final that year didn't win. It happened for the first three semi finals the next year, but not for the last two and the final. It happens regularly, as with X Factor.

I'm not sure how it's going to work.

Deadlock is when the judges and failed to meet a majority vote after the singoff, resulting in going back to the public vote

If the viewing figures fall off a cliff as a result of this, they may well drop it.

I don't like this twist as it's not fair for people who can't always watch The Saturday show straight away and vote for there favourite .

Hang on a minute, has it even been officially confirmed? It's not on the X Factor website, or their Twitter.

I think this is a bit unfair. Whoever gets told on Saturday's show that they're in the bottom two will have 24 hours to prepare themselves for the sing off. But whoever gets told on Sunday's show will only have a few minutes to prepare themselves. So the first person will have more time to get themselves ready for it.

Hmm you wonder if that would have naturally changed though....someone could be bottom saturday evening and middle sunday evening. :/

This is one of the many reasons I don't like this new voting system.

I'm actually getting a bit annoyed that the producers think that these twists are the only way to get back viewers.

You just need a few acts that are going to interest people.

I think this twist actually helps. There are, albeit few, occasions when a contestant surprises and gives a brilliant performance. A ten minute window for voting would allow that performance to be fresh in the memory. Whilst the weaker, blander performances won't encourage as much voting in that time frame.
