As the new flash vote system has been confirmed for the live shows, it now means the deadlock voting will be abolished. Therefore what will be replacing it?

The main conclusion is that the fifth judge app created this year will be used. If the voting goes to deadlock the fifth judge app will have the name of the two contestants who are in the bottom 2. The public will be the fifth judge and either save or vote off one of the contestants after the sing off.

Thoughts?

But it's not confirmed, is it?

The title is a bit misleading, therefore.

There's another separate thread for that, but this is the article being discussed there:

Haven't you heard of it?

After the Saturday show, phone lines open for 10 minutes. The act with the lowest votes is in the sing-off. Phone lines open again, and close during Sunday's result show. The act with the lowest votes joins the other act in the sing-off.

Not sure about deadlock.

Nope, hadn't heard. I tend not to read anything about the live shows until they start, lest I discover a spoiler.

I'm not sure it's even been officially confirmed by ITV. It could easily be a rumour.

Can I just ask, how does only having 10 minutes to vote eliminate deadlock?!

They won't be able to send home the person with the least votes.

It wont eliminate deadlock it just means we will know who is bottom so basically if two votes each everyone will know who is going home

You've just made that up though. Why did you present it as a fact?

Horrendous idea.

It would be much better to let them sing their save me songs, once both have sung, open the lines to save, go to a break, and then announce who is going home after the break.

With this app thing, the teenager girl vote will be even more powerful than ever before. The yearly boyband may end up in the bottom 2, but would survive over anyone, no matter how shit they are.

Actually, this 5th judge application will just make things easier for TPTB. The judges will know who goes home if they take the vote to deadlock. Also, the flash vote will likely be used by younger viewers, so acts geared towards teens and young adults will be saved.

LOL as if the producers will ever let a few people using a free app decide who is getting eliminated. Never in a million years

Christopher Maloney clearly proved the producers don't have as much control over voting as one might think. I think they're able to cleverly edit a pre-performance VT to make the contestant appear more unlikable, but as for actual vote fixing...I think it's a myth.

I never said anything about vote fixing. The sing off has always been in place as a safety net for the producers to help producers keep there favoured acts in the series. My point is there is no way they are going to hand that decision over to people playing along on a measly free app, or even a phone vote for that matter
