O2 has never worked properly since the first major outage. Some calls don't connect for me every other day.

O2 are the sweetheart of the marketing world, priority moments, the O2,massive sponsorship deals blah blah, used by the BBC, Sky, and a huge number of corporations. Sadly the actual network performance doesn't seem as important as the glossy brochures and the smart suits the staff wear when they sell these things.

Just think yourself lucky O2 no longer manage the emergency services communications network which BT bid for and won, but O2 actually ran for a while before it moving away from them.”

Isn't Three the only network that doesn't haven't a MVNO or a Business type thing?

Three do sell to business, but they aren't really in the market for business customers. They have firmly decided they are in the consumer market.

Three does have MVNO's, but not many.

I actually meant business as in smart metering m2m etc. I didn't realise there actually was any MVNO you learn something new every day,

Samba Mobile is a Three MVNO

http://www.arkessa.com/about-us/ - M2M company uses Three, there are quite a few others too.

http://www.mobiusnetworks.co.uk/about-m2m/ - another M2m company using Three

There's a few more I know of, there's a provider with a very purple homepage, something mobile I can't remember right now off the top of my head.

Am I right in thinking that SMS messages are free on 3G but if used over the internet charges apply?

If so, then they're still raking it in during these outages?

Are people still experiencing this problem?

I've had no signal and I can't use the internet (only on WiFi), It's been like this since lunch time today and it's not getting any better.

I can make calls and send text messages, but I can't use Whatsapp, check emails, use the internet.

this in one of the reasons i left o2, along with rubbish 3G and calling other o2 numbers i would occasionally get the message 'the number you have called is not recognised' bizzare

I left T-Mobile a few years ago due to a few problems and I joined 02. Big mistake!

The problems I had with T-Mobile were no where near as bad as 02 is.

I will be switching to EE when I get my next upgrade.

All networks will have outages at some point, O2 is particularly notorious for the frequency and scale of their outages - namely, "lots" and "often nationwide and affecting all services".

O2 defenders like to point the former out but not the latter.

My connection on giffgaff is fine but I have just checked my back up phone on Orange and that appears to be down

yesterday was really weird because I still got calls and some message off certain people (possibly not on O2) but others didn't come through for hours. My poor sister, I told her Id meet her for lunch, I gave her my order only afew hours before (around 10am just before the problems started) but as she was late into town I couldn't meet her due to a work meeting. She didn't get the message I sent and ordered the food and was sat there on her own! I didn't even realise there was an issue until around 4pm because I got all her messages all hours old. B*stard O2 this is the third time this has happened to me now

Official Reason: 'Routine upgrade work on the 2G and 3G network led to unexpected congestion...'

Hmm
