I am using a Dell Vostro 3700 right now with GT 330M though is getting a bit old.

I want to sell it on and upgrade and so far have only seen this one

http://www.medion.com/gb/prod/MEDION...%29/30015413A1

Though not sure what quality would be like?
I say this one had Blu Ray but missed out on it

I also like this but its american

I did Try search on google but not really finding many with in my price range don't mind buying refurbished to.
Google search keeps bring up really out to date ones to.

I'm guessing that your Vostro is the i7-720QM version as I think it was the only one with the 330M graphics. I have the same CPU on my laptop but with the Radeon HD 5850 graphics. The 720QM or Q as it gets called sometimes, I don't think there's any difference, is an excellent CPU.

If you compare it with the Medion's i5-3230, it's too close to call, see here: http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/198..._i7-720QM.html. Really it's the 330M that lets down the Vostro, and the 5400rpm hard drive.

I've considered replacing the drive with a 7200rpm one on mine. There's a forum for my laptop and the users have tried all sorts of mods to update, with varying degrees of success.

I did a fair bit of looking into the Medion brand a couple of years ago and there's no denying they pack a lot of decent hardware into the laptop case for a very reasonable price. Some people love 'em and some people hate 'em. I don't think on balance though that the Medion you are considering will be that much better than the Vostro, apart from the graphics.

I'd discount the US machine straight away. What would you do if it was faulty, send it back?

The Dell is the best of the bunch. I'm not a gamer but there's plenty of info on the net to find out if it is a game contender, and it certainly seems to be a goer, although maybe not on full res 1920 x 1080. The Dell's i7-3632QM CPU is from 3rd quarter 2012 and was the fastest in its class when released, although statistically it's only middle of the top-end CPUs now. The 2GB 7730M is from 2011. It always annoys me when manufacturers pair older graphics with newer CPUs and this Inspiron 15R is one such machine, although the 2GB makes up for its age to a certain extent. It is DDR3 though rather than the latest DDR5.

Maybe though if you do a factory reset on the Vostro (if it's the i7 version), put in a new graphics card and 7200rpm hard drive/SSD, it might be just as good as buying a new one. Don't know how easy it would be to do though, and a couple more gig of RAM would help. Of course you've got the Blu-ray drive on the Dell, which I've got on my laptop, not that I use it much these days, but the quality is outstanding. I'm not sure that you'd get the full benefit on a 15 inch screen though. Mine is 18.4 inch.

My 3700 has an i5 430M I think.
Though it seems to be getting really hot now.
I did open the laptop up but there is no dust in the fan but its getting really annoying.
Plus the 330 GT is getting on now.
I have also seen this MSI which looks good but cost more

Though I need one with Blu Ray now as I have quite a collection.

And this one is 700 which is quite a bit more

I note the listing has ended on that Dell 15R. Here's a comparable laptop, the Lenovo Z500 from Saveonlaptops, just over budget at 620. The same CPU and a similar performing graphics card. No Blu-ray and 8GB RAM, slightly let down by the screen brightness though: http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/LENOV...K_1477490.html

Here's another laptop to consider, an Amazon Acer Aspire V3-571G refurb at 534. Looks good for the price, and has Blu-ray and the same i7 CPU with the 2GB GeForce 710M: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Aspire-...core+i7+laptop

Or what about this refurb Dell Inspiron 15R SE-7520 2342 from a new seller on Amazon for 575. He's replaced the mechanical hard drive with a 250GB Samsung SSD and put in 8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM. You've got the i7-3612QM and the 2GB 7730M graphics. Might be tasty: http://www.amazon.co.uk/DELL-Inspiro...core+i7+laptop

Just read your post from 14:49. I didn't see it before as I was too busy looking for a laptop for you. If it's Blu-ray you must have then better be the Acer, although the Dell is a very good price if the seller is genuine.

Whaddya mean you think your Vostro has the i5! Don't you know which CPU it has after 3 years!! I ran a full performance test on my 720QM only 2 weeks ago and all the cores were running at 42C.

The 700 MSI looks OK as well with the 4th gen i7. I was only looking up to 600 because that's what you said was the top price and I didn't know you had to have Blu-ray. I'm not going to start a new search though. You should have made it clear from the start. The Acer or the MSI I'd say.
