Paul O'Grady would be perfect, but he's not in great health himself. It would probably be Graham Norton I think.

Same here - Alan Carr would be too OTT (and therefore would be likely to turn away many viewers). I doubt if Channel 4 would release him either.

I just know its going to be Anton

He is a terrible host.

As has happened before. all the names suggested fill me with dread and I would stop watching if some of them took over.

He would be unlikely to want to come out of what is in effect semi-retirement these days in order to host such a high-profile live show for three months a year.

Alexander Armstrong would be perfect.

Another vote for Alexander Armstrong or Paul O'Grady, or maybe Brian Conley.

I loved Tess and Claudia last year when Bruce was absent. The show ran smoothly with Tess taking the place Bruce, and Claudia was so good in the gallery with the contestants

Why not make Len Goodman host and replace him on the panel with Ian Waite?

I must admit, I am rather surprised at all the love for Alexander. I fond him quite stilted on Pointless and that is a recorded show.

The chappie behind the desk is much more natural...perhaps he could be persuaded?

I cannot stand Alexander Armstrong, is there any programme left which he hasn't been on a ruined it for me.

Another vote for Brian Conley from me

I think we need another "entertainer" who can think on his feet, and he can.....

and I'd like someone who wasnt on another show, just to keep Strictly fresh and in a league of its own

Someone should take all the 'nominations' in this thread and make a poll.

Nobody mentioned stands out for me as an ideal person to replace Bruce, but of them all I think Bradley Walsh could be good! or an ex contestant , Gethin Jones

As Strictly is a Camp show anyway adding more camp would be overkill IMHO.

My preferences would be

1-Graham Norton as he was great presenting the Lloyd Webber shows
2-Paul O'Grady
3-Alexander Armstrong

I know that some people don't like them but some of the other suggestions like Brian Conley or Barrowman *shakes fist* fill me with dread.

Just caught the end of Pointless and it occurred to me that Gary Wilmot would tick a lot of boxes.

Blimey, I haven't seen him on tv for years. I used to have quite the crush on him . Not sure whether he's right to replace Bruce. May watch Pointless if it's on catch-up to see what he's like now... purely research purposes of course

You might need to devise a poll that can record a basic popularity poll but also how many would stop watching if some of the names took over.

Bradley Walsh.

I think Brian Conley would be a good choice as he's an all rounder,
comedian, song and dance man etc.

Agree Bradley Walsh would be a good choice too.
