Seems like Luke is officially leaving college to focus on music? Hope so (though i do not want to encourage dropping out of education )”

Looks like it. Can't blame him really it is a chance of a lifetime. Can't wait to see what's ahead.

Luke might have a lot of songs written but I don't think they will let him write the whole album, with it being a debut one. Did anyone on here buy the Ben Mills album? I didn't, but I think he used about three or four of his own songs for it. I think he also included some of his X Factor songs. I'll have to try and find the track list for it.

EDIT: On Ben's album was Maggie May, I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing, Somebody To Love, and With A Little Help From My Friends, all of which he performed on X Factor. So they might do a similar thing with Luke.?

That is hideously tragic. And is the sort of thing that makes me think he's made a terribly bad move if he wants to be taken seriously as an artist.

I really dunno, from what I've read about his song choices on xfactor he seems to have been quite a bit bolshier than most contestants so I hope that carries through; though he still ended up with some crap (*cough*elton john*cough*) even later on though, so... I guess if he's stubborn as hell he can hold out for just releasing original material, even release something independently if he can get away from syco and their ilk, and just ride the idiot teenage girl purchases to try to get noticed more widely. What he releases is going to have to be amazing to get away from the xfactor stigma though.

I actually think the McDonalds picture is quite sweet. Luke seems very approachable and has a lot of time for fans.

Regarding covers. I see nothing wrong with the odd cover. (let's be honest many successful acts do covers in concerts, live lounges and even on albums and youtube.) But for his debut album I would prefer the focus to be on Luke originals. I understand that depending on which label Luke signs with he might be co-writing with others, but there's nothing really wrong with that and sometimes working with someone else could be a good thing and bring out a different side of an artist.

Over the recent years the only acts to release cover albums have been Jahmene and Marcus and neither of them were signed by Syco. So I do think there's been a huge step forward in that direction.

Why is it tragic? He can go into McDonalds if he wants to, and he would have been looked at badly if he had just ignored them all. He comes across as being very polite and sweet, and probably hasn't got a clue how to handle all of the attention lol he is only 17 after all.

He seems like a lovely guy, I agree But it's not going to help him be accepted by the people he needs (wants, I believe) to be accepted by if every gig he does has a bunch of screaming hormonal 13 year olds in hysterics at the front. He's already got the xfactor factor to overcome without that.

Your second paragraph is really interesting, I had no idea about that (so I suspect most people don't! - so it's another prejudice he has to work to overcome I guess). And I agree with the odd cover being a good thing, absolutely, so long as they're way different from both the original and from the xfactor versions (not because the xfactor versions weren't good, generally they were great, but because he needs to distance himself from the show). I really wonder what the story behind James Arthur's 'mandatory co-writers' thing is, if it was because his own stuff wasn't up to the mark or because it really is mandatory.

I just... I adored Luke on the xfactor, and adore his pre-xfactor original stuff, and even with that I'm skeptical about how well he'll overcome the xfactor thing. And the being mobbed in macdonalds by hysterical girls thing is not helpful.

I meant that the girls were tragic, these are girls that live in the same town as him and probably walked past making sneering comments about his hair/not looking like a trendy **** if they even noticed him at all, suddenly in hysterics and begging for photos and attention and... etc. Not a criticism of Luke at all, and it looks like he handled it really well; and yeah, he's a 17 year old boy, I'm sure he's loving every second.

It wasn't Luke I was criticising

I think it comes with the territory when you're a young male artist I can only imagine how bewildering and frustrating it must be to them sometimes haha (unless you're Justin Bieber, he seems to lap it up)

No worries I'm 23, and my admiration of Luke is mostly to do with the fact that I love his voice and his musical angle, I love rock/indie music more than anything else and the talent he has at 17 years old is just mindblowing to me. I do have my "aawwwww!" moments though because he is very cute and charming. However, I have read some of the comments by young teenage girls on his twitter/instagram or what have you and they are incredibly cringeworthy. So I can see where you are coming from in regards to them. It's just embarrassing.

I'm glad you got what I meant, and who I was criticising

And yeah, I'm way older than 23 and really shouldn't be posting on an online fan page for someone I should be just thinking of as just a clever wee boy - but he has an absolute f***-ton of talent, his original stuff is fantastic and he did some amazing performances on the show. And his singing is sooo much older than he is, which actually just sounds creepy as hell, so forget I said that :/ But yeah, he's as cute as all hell But talent is the sexiest thing of all

And yeah, the twitter/instagram thing of people screaming 'notice me!!!!!!!!!!!!!' is godawful. Utterly godawful.

He's so, so talented that he would probably have achieved everything he wanted, just an awful lot more slowly, and I think I understand why he took this route - but he has a massive, absolutely massive amount of prejudice to overcome by doing so. I'm not saying he can't, I've already been impressed by how total muso friends of mine have been unexpectedly positive about him, but... I just don't know.

People are judgmental, look at how he was regarded at the beginning of X Factor. A lot of people did not expect him to get as far as he did, I could feel that quite intensely the week Rough Copy were eliminated. But I LOVE people who bring something different to the table. I think the world would be an incredibly dull place if there were never any Luke's. I am grateful that he got Louis as a mentor to be honest, as wishy-washy as I think that man is, it is quite clear that he is fond of putting through contestants who are not typically given the time of the day in shows that are as mainstream as the X Factor is. Gary Barlow would not have put him through, mark my words.

Can I just say, that I can't abide people who make snide comments about his hair. There are individuals who are just so shallow in this world that they would literally ignore this boy's talent and impede his chances at success solely based on his hair. I know several people in my everyday life who were turned down for jobs solely based on the way they looked, and it is an attribute of society that I find really ugly.

(Btw, I actually do like his hair myself )

It was interesting, I watched a bit of the pre-lives of this series back and their treatment of Luke was very interesting - long judges room audition, barely anything else of him actually performing, but a ton of reaction shots of his face [HOT BOY ALERT] during bootcamp. I can't help wondering what was going on then...

To be fair, his week 1 performance was probably his worst, but yeah, how interesting that Louis was the only one that hedged his bets and predicted Sam or Luke as series winners.

And yeah, I wonder what would have happened if Gary had got hold of him *shudders*

I totally agree with you, which is (one of the reasons) why I find these screaming, hysterical girls so very obnoxious.

Did you read the article where he mentioned that some guy sent him a picture of his penis? Surely that should be classed as sexual harassment?!

Possibly it should be, but only if women sending pictures of their... bits... is similarly classed.

Poor (?) guy.

What I found extra interesting is his response "but I don't go that way." Does that mean if a female had sent him a picture of their area he wouldn't mind? LOL.
