I watch it with my niece, she's 7 and I'm 40's. My parents also watch and they are in their 70's. Finally my son is at uni and they have it on in the common room.

I am 76 and have watched it for the last five years. Several of the guys and girls at my gym watch it, and they range from early 20's to 50's.

In my family it's watched by children from aged 7 up to teenager aged 18, then adults from 40 to 74 but only the females.

This has always been true. I was 16 when TW3 was on and people sometimes ask me what it was like to witness this groundbreaking satire. I have to say I never saw an episode as I was dancing in the Southend Kursaal every Saturday night.

Love the fact you go to gym and other members there watch it. big fans in our house 20 to 48 range plus my parents watch it their 70s and my neighbours kids aged 14 and 15. Definitely more women than men though, my son and boyfriend will watch it for the. 'Totty factor' though

I'd suggest that the average age is considered by them to be quite high, but the BBC are working on bringing it down, to the detriment of the show.

I'm a 60 year old male and have watched it ever since the first show, when I was on holiday on the Isle of Lewis. Never been much interested in dance before, but did watch Come Dancing occasionally years ago. That was boring, all that formation stuff. This show is much more "happening".

I think it's the combination of professionals and well known people of differing abilities going outside their comfort zone that makes it interesting and all ages tend to watch it, although I suppose the majority are over 40 and mostly women. Nonetheless, it is quite cool for blokes to like it without being labelled a cissy.

I forgot to mention that my 71 year old brother loves it, and I phone my 71 year old cousin every Sunday and we discuss the results and who we wish had left.

I'm 31 and have watched from the start. I often watch with my mother (53) and her partner (60). We all vote though often not until the later stages of the competition.

Is it more targeted at an older audience?”

I guess I'm bordering on being a member of an 'older' audience now but I wasn't when it started
