Louis sent the best singer home.

I thought his audition was brilliant and when Nicole said there was something missing the writing was on the wall. I really hope he gets a wildcard place and goes on to win as he has the best voice and a lovely personality. Louis is a shit judge if he thinks pretty boys will win it on their looks alone.

What a crock.”

It wasn't the voice that was Louis' problem, it's his self-belief that was going to drag him down.

On vocals alone, he should still be a wildcard.

Paul's was the only voice I liked. And I thought he was cute! I like a man with a bit of padding

Was it something I missed or was he not featured going back home to tell his family and friends the bad news?

He has a fantastic voice, but, sadly, he is not someone marketable like Harry Styles or the eejits from Union J. He is not pretty and he is overweight, therefore, it will be more difficult for him to appeal to the tweens. Harsh and unfair - but that's the reality of Syco's pop world.

I must say, I don't normally get affected by what happens on the X Factor, but this whole debacle has really, really saddened me.

As someone who has struggled with his weight as long as I can remember, the message it has given me is gutting...

"It doesn't matter how talented you are, or how hard you work. If you're good looking with a cracking body, you will always win over those who are physically 'inferior' to you, even if they are supremely more talented."

I know for a fact there will be a huge number of big guys up and down the country whose already low confidence has been knocked by this.

On a side note, I actually find Paul really, really attractive. I'd have him any day over vacuous-but-fit Sam. It's OK Paul, I'll be your man-husband!

I mentioned further up that Bluey from Incognito posted about Paul and here is what he has said

Quote:
“Tonight I saw a shy young man on X factor named Paul Akister. He had a wonderful voice, so I carried on watching as Louis Walsh dismissed him in favour of other singers that he thought would be better pop stars, and he may be right. But there are other avenues available to those who have great voices, and if anyone out there knows Paul Akister, I’d like to offer him my services as a songwriter/producer. For all I know someone with ears at a record company may have contacted him already. If not, and you happen to know him, please point him my way. Peace… Bluey”

Far more credible than the XF plastic pop route and I really hope Paul does contact Bluey. I think it's far more his genre than being told by Louis Walsh he's like a little Paul Potts after he's been forced to sing a Westlife cover wearing a badly fitting suit

*Edit* Anyone who doesn't know who Bluey is, here's his credentials - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Pa...uey%27_Maunick

So how come all the fat girls got thru?

If there's a wildcard i'm guessing Paul will get through.

He has no confidence though, which is a big disadvantage in the entertainment business, surely.

To me it's the worst decison of last night but it had producers choice all over it. Louis gets alot of flack but he's been in the music biz for decades - he knows a good voice and you could see he hated having to tell Paul no.

Luke and Sam have no chance even as pop stars.

Well if Wikipedia says it's first and foremost a singing competition then it must be true

Because none of the overs were potential winners anyway so it doesn't really matter.

Well its not very entertaining when the people who can sing are binned, and the usual suspects are picked again.

That's X Factor, though, sadly. It's okay to be fat if you're a girl or an over, but the boys catagory can only be chubby if they're gay, no doubt because the producers want people that they can market as "boyfriend material" rather than "good singers".

They really have a low opinion of their voters - all the more annoying because they're probably right.

I can't believe people are still surprised about the fact that it's clearly always been about looks. Louis in fairness has said himself that sometimes it's not about the voice so at least he's honest enough to admit it. I watch and enjoy it but I know it's primarily a tv show designed to manipulate people's emotions and to make as much money as possible

I thought he and Nicholas were going to go through to be honest.

No that was Louis excuse for not putting him through. The three blubbering boys that got through were all nervous too.

Agree.
Just watched Paul's auditions again on u tube. I'd buy his album in a heartbeat, he has the most amazing voice. As for the others, you'd have to tie me down to listen to more than one tune from them.

That's what I an't understand... I am a straight guy and have no problem giving my opinion on other guys, and I think he did have sex appeal. He wasn't bad looking and had a ton of charisma... you can really tell he had a saucy side to his character that just needed coaxing out of him.

Really bad selections this year.

Totally agree. I hope he gets a break from all this.

Agree with everyone who has said this was the wrong decision. I wonder if the X Factor judges (and or producers) are confusing the viewing public with the voting public. Whilst the pretty boy types may be popular with the teenage voters those who can actually sing well may be more popular with the viewers in a different demographic who choose not to vote. At the end of the day X Factor survives or fails by viewer numbers rather than voter numbers. Could this focus on pretty pop stars who attract votes rather than focusing on vocal and performing talent be the reason why some viewers have deserted the show in favour of Strictly?

Louis does know the business, look at ID, a nice bunch of lads, and very pretty, but couldn't sing many notes in tune, but with auto tuning and very clever marketing they have got the adolescent girls, and disturbingly some of their mothers ( my child is my best friend types) frothing at the mouth over them, and Cowell makes a fortune out of it. So the unfort unate Paul, who I thought had winner written all over him, despite the drug boasting teen girl, had to go. I hope he does get a break, his confidence won't have been helped by the rejection. Note to future contestants, loose weight before you enter the show.
