He had zero marketability and this thread admits as much. A nice talented guy but not right for x factor.

The grave mistake was not putting Giles through. He would have got to the final, an utter cutie with stage presence, marketability and an adorable personality. Should have took the place of Nicholas who just isn't marketable or current and is like a choir/alter boy.

Still so angry about this! Best vocalist in the competition pushed aside for a voiceless ken doll, a scruffy indie wannabe and a wimpering chubby teen with an average voice

I doubt this. Speaking for myself (of course) I seriously appreciate Paul but see nothing in Nicholas.

I'd normally agree that only the 'cute' hot ones get through, but this year, most of the overs were significantly overweight and not remotely hot.

I bet some of the not so 'gorgeous' girls will get through too.

Personally, I just think Louis is a bloody idiot and will soon pay the price for it. I genuinely think Paul was finalist material.

Words fail me that Paul who has the best voice in the whole competition didnt get through.
Absolutely bloody furious

Neither are Luke/Nick particularly good eye candy. I don't think it's Paul's size that has anything to do with it.

He's not even that fat though. He could easily lose a stone or two and then he would be a handsome young man

It's just another case of Louis Walsh picking the wrong act

I don't know about the "cutie" bit, but he does have likeability and a lot of charisma, in an odd sort of way.

I don't think he has a "pop star" type personality though, not at all. Not sure what he would be better suited to.... some kind of presenting, perhaps?

I think you're missing something with Luke, he has a really gorgeous face, I think the young girls will really adore him and his long hair (although maybe he should stop trying to do the dreads, bound to be really really smelly).

Nick has a charm too and a cheeky grin.

I think it's a travesty that Paul hasn't gone through, best voice out of the lot by far.

Giles? Cute ? Stage presence? marketability? Adorable ?

Oh come on.

he's about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike and an utter utter cry baby.

He has more chance of success than 95% of the remaining acts. ds hates current and relevant acts that have any actual charisma and marketability.

And yes, he's ridiculously cute and adorable and I usually hate acts like him.

At least get some judges with real musical ability

I am sure that those 3 "singers" are all far better than 99% of the people here crying over Paul not getting through. So what you are basically saying is that the more educated decision is that Paul shouldn't be through.

Oh and Paul is much slimmer than Craig Colton was and he made it to the live shows. Just saying.

You seem to have missed my point, its not about the looks and the image, but about the voice and the music.......

but seeing as you are mentioning educated decisions

80's one hit wonder Sinitta, A boy band singer who can only dream of hitting those notes, and some girl who thought Liam Gallagher was a catch.??

That is not what you can ever call educated!

I've been listening to music for 30 years, and I can pretty much guarantee, that around the world, Paul's voice would be classed as far more soulful than anyone else on the show,

Guess you are just interested in this years fashion

To be honest, the Craig Colton comparison was not aimed at you but the other people on this thread claiming that Paul's weight was the only reason for him not being at the live shows. Sorry, I should have made that clearer.

As for the "I have listened to music for 30 years" argument, you haven't been listening to music for as long as Sinitta or anyone else on Louis' judging panel? Looks like once again, you are confirming that her opinion is more valid than yours.

Assuming judges have input to choices, it was Gary that chose Craig.

Gary tweeted twice re Paul on Saturday saying what a great voice he had and I think one tweet just said Paul.. I took that to mean Paul had his vote.

Sinitta also tweeted Louis had his own particular style re choices.

I think that they will bring Paul back as a wildcard or bring him back and public vote
If not Paul then it be Zoe

If it's just about looks, how come Nicholas got through?
Actually I suppose there are other factors other than looks or the x factor - not least who they are going to market them to and how easily they can be moulded into the required image.
Anyway another vote here for Paul. I did think he had a presence when he was singing, I find him more attractive than schoolboy Nicholas with his squidgy little face - plus his voice has a beautiful distinctive tone.
I hope he is reading these boards. And I hope he gets lots of offers as a result of his TV exposure.

He seems like a lovely person.
He has a really good, quality voice..

Comments about him not being "marketable," IMO, buys into the notion that we've become a society obsessed with the idea that we want our pop singers, actors, even our politicians to look glamorous and "sexy."

Well, has been said, beauty is in the eye..etc..

I happen to think he's a pretty attractive lad..

But, in the end I couldn't give a flying, you know what, how he looks..I'm not going to be looking at him when I play his material on my iPod.

If I was concerned how a person looks then I wouldn't listen to Adele, or half the artists I've listened to over the years..

Many of them weren't "marketable," either.

Rich.

He doesn't need to lose an ounce, he's gorgeous as he is now and already a handsome young man.
