I don't think it has anything to do with race.
If the tabloids can find anything bad about contestants then they will get ripped apart. The moral of the story is, don't be a dick and then thrust yourself into the public eye. That stands irrespective of race. |

Whilst I must admit to laughing at how they managed to make a story out of the biggest pile of cr*p I've ever read, the second 'sickening pose' being particularly hilarious, I don't get why her race had to come into this? If Sam or Shelley had posed with a gun, they would have probably published it too.
And the media have made hate figures of Kitty, Cher, Frankie, Danyl, Rylan, Christopher and so many more, none of whom were black girls |

I don't think it's about race either. I think the media can be brutal to anyone who gives them the opportunity. If they have a past they will use it, it's not because she is black.

To be fair when you actually read the whole story it's quite nice and positive. The pictures are really her own stupid fault and I don't believe showing them is a race issue.

I don't understand - why does the media make such a big deal out of things like this? It's far from ideal but we've all got negative stuff in our past. |

Shocking? Not really. Kinda silly, but who hasn't posed for or been camera ambushed for some embarrassing photos at some point?
If anything, this in her past probably makes her more determined. She seems a lovely person, actually, and, regardless of press, she has talent. |

They're legal in Jamaica so she could do whatever she wanted with them there.

Don't be so desperate as to hold onto untrue racial stereotypes, because Cher, Katie and Kitty were all media hate figures and none of them are black women. Thing is, the media will do their best to turn anyone into a hate figure and sensationalise any piece of info into a negative public image. Sadly this is what the media thinks their job should entail... what a lovely world we live in.

The thing is each of those women made people hate them because of the behaviour on the show and actions on said show. The same can't be said for some.

The Mirror shows her making a sickening shooting gesture. I am sickened by this gesture of shooting because the paper tells me to be sickened by this sickening picture.
As kids we made gun shapes shouting pew pew pew to each other. I'm now 36. Ah the good old days when pew pew pew wasn't a sickening gesture. Stupid newspaper article. |

I don't think any of those contestants behaved in such a way to warrant "hate." Hate is a very strong feeling to have against someone, particularly if you do not know them, and I just think it's used so flippantly sometimes. I do feel Katie in particular was victimised by the media in an unnecessarily exaggerated manner.

Cher did behave rudely, while on the show, to be fair.In her case, it partly fueled her post-show success, but that's because she had an odd sort of potential star quality tostart with.On the right songs, she has a passably good voice that is commercial, too.The press didn't ultimately do her any harm.
Katie B and Kitty W didn't necessarily behave rudely on the show, but they both actively courted attention through dramatics, silly behaviour and trying to out-costume the others while lacking the stage presence, talent, or vocal ability to merit it. The press actually may have helped them in a way. Lorna has come across as a lovely person who maybe made some choices that led to trouble in her past, but overall she seems like a nice person, doesn't behave like a silly attention whore, and she most certainly can sing and has talent. Hopefully the press won't do her any harm in the long run. I am betting it wont. |

The thing that's a bit stupid is she didn't have to post them online.

She hasn't harmed anyone, and I am just focussing on her talent. |

They're legal in the UK if you have a license. Surely it's the morality rather than legality that is the issue. She looks repugnant modelling with a gun as would anyone. And it is of no surprise to me that the media would be interested in this. I just hope her flippant act doesn't come back to haunt her any more than this.

Lorna wasn't a kid playing though. She is an adult and the initial picture is her posing with a gun in her underwear

Oh good lord, she's pictured holding her hands out in front of her in a gun gesture! SICKENING! She should be banned! She should be arrested! All of the UK are now rushing out to buy black market guns!

Rylan coulda passed for being black and a woman though; the hysterics, the tears, the plucked eyebrows, that fake tan that got darker and darker with each week to such an extent I stood outside my local Dixons one evening to watch the X Factor and compare the colour on their screens with my own tv at home.
