My trusty old 9200 is on its last legs after providing years of service, so I'm looking to upgrade it. I'm seriously considering the Humax DTR-T1010 1TB Youview recorder, but I'm seeing some very bad reviews. Is the software now stable and is the product reliable? I read that one software upgrade locked the unit out of the internet and prevented further updates!

Can any owners on here assure me that it's all now sorted and I can buy with confidence or should I look elsewhere?

I've got the DTR-1000 which I believe is the same machine just with a different front cover.

I can honestly say that I haven't had any problems with the machine at all. It performed a software update recently and hasn't locked up once. It was quite easy to set up the remote to control the tv and the remote record through the iphone app is a nice touch. We currently have a Virgin Tivo box and the Humax blows it out of the water with regard to HD picture quality (the Tivo always seemed to have a soft picture), speed of use and a nice remote control. The Tivo is sat gathering dust now until the contract expires in November.

Accurate Recording has been just as the name says although I dont record ITV as nothing appeals to me on that channel.

Possibly the biggest thing you will miss moving from the 9200T is the abiliy to pad timers. You have to totally rely on Accutate Recording and hope the broadcasters don't cock up. Slighlty ameliorated by having ease of access to the main catch up players to see the first/last few minutes lost if and when it happens.

Many still consider the older Fox T2 the better buy.

I agree the HDR-FOX T2 is a better PVR and there is custom software available to enhance the capabilities. The main omission is the catch up players, If you don't have to buy immediately there is also an HDR-2000T in the works and my felling is that it will launch in the next few weeks but we don't know much about its capabilities (note Argos are already selling an item claimed to be an HDR-2000T but so far they have all turned out to HDR-FOX T2).
