Does anyone know anything on tonight's edit and who gets airtime? The preview makes it sound like Melanie is monaged is this right?

It would appear so yes. She's been screwed, its a shame but at the same time best just to accept it else you'll just be disapointed.

The Irish media have already confirmed she's out however it would have been nice it she got a full performance on her way out.

Acts who are shown really quickly.

They group more than one contestant together (ie a group of 3), focusing mostly on one of those contestants. The one who gets focus has a fuller VT, more discussion and more of their performance is shown (ever thought, that was a short song? Its because they edited it down, often dulling it in the process by steering clear of highlights).

Then in the result they group them together; sending two home and one through as a group (so its one of these 3) and the one who had the most focus goes through.

They normally do it when they are sending a strong person home (ie Paul last night) as to the casual viewer they lose prominence so it appears as though it was the obvious choice.

Oh you meant montaged I genuinely thought it was some new thing I'd never heard of - even "crueller" than the chairs

Fiziz, beautiful analysis and spot on! I point this out to friends and they think I'm crazy and looking too much in to it.

I noticed this...and the thing is they use the same method again and again and again and again! Haha

If Melanie has gone and I was surprised by a few who were let go in both Louis and Sharon's categories, do you think they do this deliberately to create a bit of drama for the wildcard element of the show, or has it been confirmed yet if there is a wildcard this year.

I think its unlikely as the opening show is too short to accommodate it. Possible but unlikely.

There's no rule of course that wildcards have to be introduced in Live Show 1 : the producers can make up their own rules as they go along.

I don't think they would though. I think people are hoping that there will be wildcards as the final 12 lineup is actually rather weak and the best talent appears to be dropping out in favour of cookie cutter type acts that are incredibly safe vote winners but can't be commercially successful.

That's how it looks ATM, of course that could change but ATM that's the case IMHO.

I think what's happening is that the competition for the producers favourite is being purged. Either removed now or will be ripped apart by the press as the show goes on. Tamera and Lorna have been hit already and that's probably a precursor for things to come (it usually is).

Then someone nobody has noticed yet or is currently a "might do well" will take it.

Maybe the producers will add a wildcard if they see many people making a fuss there does seem to be a lot of bad decision making so far on Sharons and Louis side mainly or they'll leave weak finalists to the lives to enable the producers favourites to make it far in the competition.

I'm sure she's a lovely girl but she would have been the Sophie Habibas of this year. A nice looking girl with a nice voice, but nothing special.

Yamera's going to get a record deal even if she goes out next week provided she doesn't do or hasn't done something they find totally unacceptable. And let's face it, the music biz is pretty liberal about most things apart from money.

That's good news, that's the one I was worried about going through tonight.

She's a much better singer than Sophie Habibis ever was though. Sophie sounded really flat on the live shows, making an absolute nonsense of the decision to put her through ahead of Melanie.

Looks like the preview was wrong, as Melanie isn't being montaged.
