So we know Melanie hasn't got through, but to me this is extremely cruel. Not only to Mel but to the audience. Some people (young teens) will be watching the show and after watching Mel will maybe think that if you keep trying you will succeed. But now when they see Mel fails to make it through its kinda being cruel. No?

If there was never any intention of her making it all the way through the lives shows she shouldn't have ever been put past the producer round I know if I was Melanie I would have rather been sent home at the producer round than get my hopes up again for nothing.

The show panders to our basest instincts. It's like a roman circus. That's why it's successful. So yes, of course it's cruel. It wouldn't be anywhere near as popular if it wasn't.

Of course it is. All reality shows have elements of meanness or cruelty to them

It's said that
Spoiler

It's just really said she's not through again. Melanie should try The Voice or just focus on working hard X factor lets so many good singers go.

That is even more cruel to be honest if this is the case. I feel bad for her, but like you say, she should try 'The Voice' She has the talent in my opinion, so should try other shows, instead of just 'The X Factor'

Will be interesting to see what happens this could have been a typo or bad wording in the article on ie interdependent but Melanie seemed so happy when she got home on twitter then she seemed really sad a few hours after talking about crying after listening to the song high hopes.

Nicole should not have been allowed to change her mind once she'd already done the filming and whatever decision she said there has to be final it's really bad for them to do that.
Maybe it's
Spoiler
that she changes it to

If the spoilers are true, that is pretty harsh.

how do we know Melanie doesn't get through, where has the spoiler come from?

If this is the case, this is terrible for Melanie and its the same on the boys said as Paul should have totally got through.

Lets hope there is a wild card for each category.

The industry is harsh so in a way what happens is a good way for wanbabe singers to see the reality. Anyone who doesn't know by now how the x factor works is living in cloud cuckoo land

Perhaps she just didn't have the stones to do it face to face.

It's not as if the show couldn't afford to keep them out there a few extra days or have Nicole visit them at home.

In past series I have thought it to be cruel. However this year I have no opinion on it, nor know who Mel is or what cruelty was done to her, since I gave up watching this rubbish.

This is the emotions they want you to feel. They want viewers to be outraged and they want all the headlines they can get because both of those things get people talking, and people talking means people tune in to see what all the fuss is about, which means better ratings.

She is far better than both Tamera and Hannah. If they're going to use the excuse 'Something is missing' and not define what is missing then that pretty much answers why they got rid of her because they didn't want her as direct competition for the chosen two.

She isn't good enough is the most ridiculous accusation I've seen so far. The girl is only known for her vocals not some sob story or a drug scandal.

My answer to people like that is "welcome to the real world"

It is cruel, but that's how we like it.

If it wasn't cruel, we wouldn't still be watching it after a decade.

I do think she has a great voice but for me there was no wow factor and that is what is missing for me. . IMO Tamara has that in spades but of course that is my personal opinion
