Paul....
...was the only person this year that I could call my non-X Factor-watching hubby over to watch. Everything stopped in my household when he was on. I can't see why some people are comparing him with Nicholas, who wasn't bad but at the same time his sound was very ordinary. I just can't see people voting for him.
Paul's performance seemed the most polished and whatever his usual personality, he comes alive when he sings. To me, he moved like someone I would pay to see. Maybe I'm getting too old.... |

Absolutely gutted that Paul didn't go through. Think he had such a beautiful voice, great attitude and maturity, too. Seemed like a genuinely likeable guy.
I really hope he tries again next year! |

My cynical side does wonder if this has been done on purpose though so they can put him up as a wildcard and loads of people will vote, boosting their revenue even more ![]() ![]() Whatever thought, Paul is brilliant and a really hope he does well.... |

Quite agree, it's about time they realised, it's not just teenage girls who watch the show. I was despairing through the auditions that I wasn't going to have a favourite this year... until Paul came along. I was at a friends and everyone was chatting, but the room soon fell silent when he came on, his voice really is something special.

The boys category is very young. Am I right in thinking Paul will be an over next year? That might give him a better chance. |

I really really liked Paul. I thought he had the strongest voice out of all the boys, and stronger than a lot of the others who got through too. I thought he was a nice likable guy, and he's the only one I'd have picked the phone up for.

Don't think there is a wildcard this year, sadly.

I disagree all of the Overs are appealing to well to many of both demographics. And I can imagine the girls this year are going to be loved by all age groups - if Tamara's controversy ceases and she becomes more consistent then I can see her being a potential Alex B.
Do you think? I'm not sure about the girls. Everyone on here seems to really love the girls but they just don't interest me so much. I'm a little indifferent to them really. |

Can't remember at what stage they announced the wild card last year, just that it was Christopher Maloney... Am sure you're right, typical of X Factor to miss out on the best singer in ages, at least it will save me having to waste my hard earned cash voting

O, shame if there's not, I was still holding out a bit of hope - well until the end of tonight's show at least

I remember Phoney Maloney being told walking around the gardens of that big house with Gary and doing the whole shaking thing. However, who knows... they change it all about every year, don't they, so could be wrong. |

In all honesty, to win this show you need the whole package. Paul didn't have this. He would've became quite mundane and bland.

Let me tell you this... I am a bl**k man and I would willing paid over the odds to hear Paul sing... anywhere in the world.
The guy is a phenomenon, a white guy that could sing soul on a par with artists like Luther Vandross, Barry White, Teddy P, Marvin Gaye et.al. Britain has never had a singer with his soul tones..ever!. I would have lost my house if I had bet on him not being a bl**k classic soul singer like those named above, if I only heard him but couldn't see him. This is not being racist, just being real with the way I feel. The guy could sell records for DECADES! So those of you who want one hit wonders just don't know what you are talking about. Barry was big, Luther got big .... didn't stop them selling and they are still selling even though they have gone. Paul going out was a travesty and if someone snaps him up (LA Ried, Pharell were you listening) he will out sell the eventual winner of this farce ...by years, awards and pounds! Gah! |

I know it's very cynical of me but I'm afraid anyone who is very overweight is immediately seen as someone they cannot market to appeal to the demographic they are aiming for. People just don't buy into them.
It shouldn't matter but sadly it does, very much so. |

They really need to put this guy in as a wildcard. Easily top 3.

It has clealy shown what this whole show is about and set up to do:
Find a silly young pop act for silly tweenie record buyers. Any thought that it is really to find people of any age, shape or size who have the X Factor, is complete nonsense. It really should be called the £££ Factor as that is what they are out to do with a young pop act. They keep giving this away by asking "How Relevant" and "How Current" are they? That means relevant to the current tweenie pop chart. The vocal talent has ZERO to do with this show as they put through acts that sing flat and can't even remember their words. Yet they appeal to the silly tweenies. Then they reject acts that can sing, sing well but are not appealing to the tweenies. |

He has lost the plot!!!
He has picked people who, regardless of their lack of singing talent, will appeal to little girly voters. |
