YES ladies and gentlemen, we're BACK! Last summer, there was this amazing game called The Chance Factor, hosted by the marvelous Soppyfan and of course myself. At the end of the series, we promised that there would be a second series, and look at what we have here.

First of all, let's inform you all what this game is about once again. In The Chance Factor, four mentors will compete with each other to win the competition just like in any other X Factor game. However, the main quirk this game has is the way the acts will be selected for the judges, the judges themselves don't get to select them directly. Instead, they, along with the DS public (that means you can have your say too!) will decide which X Factor UK acts will be included in each of the categories. My trusty RNG (random number generator) will then give each of the four already decided coaches their category along with THREE or FOUR (depending on the number of total entries) options, from which they will have to pick a mere two acts to make up their teams for the live shows. With these semi-random teams, the mentors will battle it out over the course of six shows for the title of Chance Factor champion, a spot currently held by forum member jackamakka and his winner Lucy Spraggan.

If there are any questions about the format, please don't hesitate to ask them to either my co-host Soppyfan or me. Both of us are perfectly capable of elaborating on any aspect of the series. The four former judges have all been sent a PM asking if they want to return, so there are no open spots on the judging panel for now. However, I will notify you immediately if a judge is unable to return to the panel. It has to be said that this is an excellent game to participate in for people who either have little time or are new to these forum games - there is only one show a week, you're only mentoring 2 acts and everyone is out of their comfort zone mentoring randomly picked acts. So, as soon as there is a spot available, you can PM me the reason why you should be on the panel and perhaps you will be a judge this series.

There is no set date for the actual launch of the series, but I think next Sunday is a good place to start. No matter when it is though, the acts will need to be decided by then. Therefore, I have decided to create this thread in advance and open the vote to give everyone who wants to send in acts ample time to do so. Like I said, there are no open spots on the panel yet, but everyone is able to cast a vote whether they are participating in this game or not. This vote should contain ONE act that made the live shows in the UK (any series, the current one included) from EACH category, so that's one boy, one girl, one over and one group per vote. The following acts cannot be chosen however, as they were picked last series:
Spoiler

I will not accept any votes that do not meet these requirements, so make sure you read the paragraph above!

You can submit acts up until Saturday night, so get to it and start sending in acts. Who knows, maybe the acts you sent in will be picked by the RNG and will be on the show (in other words, try to be creative, curveball acts are allowed too!).

One last thing, the judges will be announced at the start of the launch show, as will the categories they will be mentoring during this series. Returning judges and new judges, you can post on this thread as long as you keep your spot on the panel hidden from the rest of the public, they will find out next Sunday at 7 PM!

I know the feeling about essays but yes folks, we are back and ready to throw in more of the same challenges.

Of course the main premise of the game is the same, but rest assured that the themes will be very different!

Perhaps you could even apply to join the panel if someone drops out. You seem very eager to do one of these forum games after all.

Regardless of that, please send in 4 acts (according to the rules outlined in my opening post) for me to add to the list of possible picks.

That highly depends on the situation, but for most things I use the list randomizer from random.org. You just throw your list in there and let it generate a result. For categories, I throw the names of the judges into the randomizer. They are each assigned a number in the outcome, which will correspond with a category (boys being 1, girls being 2, overs being 3 and groups being 4). For acts, I just throw the whole list of acts people picked into it and pick the top 4 as the judges' options.

I remember using Random.org many years before I joined this site. It's a very handy tool to have.

Fair enough, even though you heavily implied you were.

I can confirm that three of the judges are definitely returning this series, there's one I'm still awaiting a response from...
