She had absolutely no oomph. As soon as the camera was off her I forgot what she looked/sounded like.

I found it cruel, that poor girl looked quite broken. They should stop her entering as they seem to just use her for drama and have no intention of putting her through to live shows.

She was way better than wet blanket Abby and croaky Hannah! And probably won't forget her lyrics like the other one

Stop her entering? They invited her to enter.

that's good news

That's even worse then! I didn't know that. Why do I watch this, seeing people have their dreams crushed is pretty nasty

How old is Melanie and how can she be that young if she auditioned starting from 2008? Did she audition the fifth time now? personally I liked her but I honestly don't think she was better than the other girls that were picked.

She was the fourth best one in my opinion that is why Nicole wasn't sure. She was between Melanie and Tamera(?) and because Melanie has auditioned so many times she went with Tamera which does look more like a pop star. (not what it should be based on I know but in real pop star world looks do count)

It is a really sick thing and we watch it for entertainment. I feel grubby tonight.

I think she was very young when she first auditioned, not sure of her exact age then or now though.

Me too, you try and balance it out with the happiness of the ones that get through, and normally that works for me, but seeing how deflated and heartbroken Melanie looked tonight was hard to watch

Well I found the whole thing cruel and upsetting. I guess the haters can all quieten down now, I'd rather be sad that she's gone, than be the kind of person to be literally wetting their knickers with excitement that somebodies had their dreams shattered.

It's not a competition. It's as scripted as a soap. We are sold the idea of judges and big decisions being made, but I don't believe that is the truth.
We are watching a reality TV show with a script and the players are decided early on.

She auditioned in 2008 at 14. She was 19 this year but now 20.

Fefster, absolutely spot on. The public are made to believe that "they decide" but they do not. They are conned in to voting the way the producers want. They choose the songs, give the edits, judges comments and camera angles, all to get the result they want. They have finely tuned their craft and 99% of the voters haven't a clue they're being manipulated.

No, I do think people know this but generally, don't really care as long as it is entertaining. However, the wilful destruction of someone's dreams in the name of entertainment is loathsome and a step too far.

So even if that theory is true, then surely the contestants enter into the show under the illusion that this is a competition and are prepared for it?

Thanks. Very young still.

She has beautiful soft voice similar to girl with glasses but she has piano playing and in a strange way I think her wearing glasses might have edged it towards Abi. They couldn't have the ''samey'' softly singing girls in there I suppose.

ONLY my OPINION though!

I think many of the contestants know exactly what the show is about but will do anything for fame. Even short term fame.

Interestingly too she seems to have generated a large number of threads on DS this evening : strange for a supposedly bland and eminently forgettable contestant.

While the likes of poor singer Shelley stayed.
She did come across a bit desperate but so did Hanna with her sob stories and tears on cue..They are only young girls, leave them be. I don't understand the hate for this poor girl, I really don't its nasty and unfair.
Xfactor is not about the singing if it was Rylan would not have a career.”

Rylan doesn't have music career he presents BB spin off and This Morning.

Nobody hates Melanie she doesn't have the X Factor simple as that. She will never ever have a career in music let it go.

Why would they do that to anybody? The edit is there to create a dramatic TV programme, but all of the final 6 knew that only 3 could go through. Melanie is very good but other girls were better. I thought it was a shame she didn't make the cut lsst year, but Relly and Jade both gave better judges houses performances than Melanie this year and still ddn't go through. Your favourite is out, ver sad for you and for her, but not everyone can go through,

She was my second fave, with Tamera being my main fave.

I just loved the tone of her voice, and would choose to listen to it. Some of my favorite singers don't have that "star quality", I just love hearing their voices.

There is more to music than production, bear that in mind. X factor is only about the production.

It's a competition, dreams are going to be destroyed. If Melanie was lured into coming back with the promise of a place in the live finals, she must have realised that would be unfair on any new and untried contestants who may turn out to be better than her? (as they have, in my opninion). Yet we're asked to believe she was complicit in something like that but was betrayed? It doesn't reflect well on her if that is true.

If she was persuaded back in the knowledge that it was a level playing field, well she took a chance which paid off in the amount of TV exposure she had, so she got a decent deal.

Same here! She had a nice enough voice, but I cant remember her having a really stand out performance. Whereas I can still remember the first auditions of many of the past contestants from the Girls category. The main thing I remember about her was she had auditioned 3 times before!
