(as they have, in my opninion). Yet we're asked to believe she was complicit in something like that but was betrayed? It doesn't reflect well on her if that is true.

If she was persuaded back in the knowledge that it was a level playing field, well she took a chance which paid off in the amount of TV exposure she had, so she got a decent deal.”

I can't disagree with that.

The producers would have already known the final 12 before they even called Melanie.

These final 12 aren't discovered. They're almost all poached. The entire thing is like a soap opera. Scripted from start to finish.

All the girls who were rejected had their dreams shattered. Poor Jade was in exactly the same position. But I picked the exact same three to go through to the lives as Nicole did.

They all had a shot and unfortunately someone has to lose.

Are you saying that Melanie was deceived into thinking she was one of the 'poached' and was a shoo-in for the final 12 and agreed to participate because of that? That wouldn't really reflect well on her, would it?

Anyone would jump at such an offer though, wouldn't they? Hannah, Tamera, Abi, Nicholas etc.....it would be disingenuous to suggest they wouldn't.

Did leona Lewis have X factor before the lives?! I would say no, it wasn't till the finals that she was noticed, even Nicole said she would grow!

Having jumped at it though, and found that the offer wasn't valid, would you then have the right to whine that you were treated unfairly, knowing that to honour the offer would have been to treat others unfairly? I'd keep my mouth shut and give in graciously, personally.

Melanie is not a baby she has been on the how four times and knows what to expect from it.

I really wanted Melanie to get through already knew she hadn't but they made out that it was her time and she made the right decision coming back making it look as if she was going to get through.
They seem to like Melanie and say her vocals are good but she's lacking in the emotional side.
I don't think she'd audition again she's done what she can or she just puts herself at the risk of getting told no. She's worked so hard . I'd say she's better to try out The Voice rather than the X Factor at this stage.

Which is what she has done I believe....she hasn't said a word about her XF experience so far.

Melanie has not whined, she has said nothing.
You know I am waiting for all the poster reactions here, when their fave is booted out in a twist or loses to a vote. You know it will happen, these people are just tools to the show.

I hope no excuses will be made for those acts either or vents here. when the shoe is on the other foot.

I bet she is gutted that Louis wasn't judging the girls this year as she'd have been a dead cert to go through if that were the case. She does have a nice voice but would have been another Ella had she got through to the finals, she just doesn't have that 'It' factor. I hope both she and Jade do well for themselves but it is time they stopped auditioning for the show now.

The Voice is desperate to make itself look like a more credible version of the X Factor. I highly doubt they would allow a multiple-time X Factor reject to go far unless they were ugly which Melanie isn't or were a member of the instrument-playing master race.

I agree Jade has auditioned 7 times.Mels first two times she was very young 15 and 16 the next time. But yes enough is enough now.
She has joked on Twitter she will be back next year with a harp, so is taking it well and laughing at herself. She is also congratulating Abby, they seem close friends and being very gracious. She is only 20 but seems such a nice girl, I wish her luck too and jade. i hope both full-fill their dreams.
Do it the old fashioned way girls.

I think she has handled herself well, many would have lashed out on Twitter and had a right old moan but she's done the right thing and been gracious about it so she deserves lots of kudos for that.

Jade also auditioned for the Voice last year I believe but was knocked back on that. If anything I would say her voice has got weaker over the past couple of years, her best chance of the lives was the year Kelly took her to JH's and I think she was unfortunate not to make it that year but her time has come and gone I think.

If she was deceived, she agreed to nothing. She saw the editing like us, heard the comments and thought she had a shot, its not a crime to be hopeful and she was given good reason to be..
She must feel mortified and gutted now she is out, so maybe people might leave her alone now and stop judging a young girl so harshly.

The only reason Ella went out was the teen girl voters jealous of her being near the boys.

Surely after all these years we still don't believe the judges have final say who goes through?

That's a pretty spiteful and overly negative attitude you have there.

So she got rejected a fourth time. Big deal. The entertainment industry if FULL of rejection. Just about every famous person out there has had to experience hundreds if not thousands of rejections and remain persistent throughout in order to make the big time. Fortune favours the brave.

Also, here's some food for thought - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, a little book you've maybe heard about, was rejected by 12 publishers before it was picked up by Bloomsbury. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Every single person who ever got into entertainment has gotten a few no's. I got a few myself, and it sucks, but there is no shame in it. The trick is to keep trying unless you are told repeatedly that you just aren't good enough. Melanie hasn't been told that(if not for Abbi having the quirky niche artist thing going on, Melanie would likely have been the one to go through, though I do agree that she needs to develop as an artist more), most likely because she does actually have a lovely voice, and image to match, and potential.

Well done Mel. You're too good for the show anyway. I laughed about the Harp but she'll need to put on a lot of weight too judging by the ones that got through! Then the females at home won't be jealous of her. Mel is beautiful inside & out. I wish her loads of luck.

I don't really understand all the fuss on here. She had a good voice and could carry a tune but she was also very generic-sounding and was particularly samey when she started belting out in a higher register - she's no Leona as far as the 'big' numbers are concerned.

I always liked the start of her performances when she sounded softer and more unique but I grew tired of the shouty generic belt-out sections. But this was her 'thing' and it cost her a place because there was nothing exceptional about her tone, her style, her performance, her look, etc. Just another big-voice-ballad singer, and they're 10 a penny every year.

Factor in that she had no discernible 'x factor' and I simply don't see where she could have gone career-wise. Leona had no charisma either but she was a beauty with an astonishing voice. Conversely, One Direction weren't especially talented but were very marketable to a particular demographic. What was Melanie's 'thing', her hook? She didn't have one. It's the same reason people like Matt Cardle and Joe McElderry failed: a lack of that marketable 'thing' that makes someone either a credible artist or a star versus just another good singer.
