I assumed they meant Ellie Goulding, I could be wrong though.

Possibly but it's hard enough to work out what they're going on about without them getting everyone's name wrong

Ok I'll cut the question differently. Abi has written and recorded an album, has performed live on youtube solo and with other artists and performed live. She plays at least two instruments and is still writing new material.

Like her or not that is all fact.

Perhaps one of Melanie's fans can explain to me, what she has done (other than applying for the X Factor) to try and get herself a recording contract?

I don't honestly understand why you keep having a go at Melanie or her fans, baffling really, and what's it got to do with Abi. Melanie's out, gone, never to be seen again as you have stated in previous posts, you're efforts would be better used in supporting Abi going forward IMO.

I'm really not that bothered either way about any contestant. People getting it wrong. I don't get the outrage that is all. And people have claimed that Melanie has been hard done by. I just don't see justification for that is all.

It's not up for discussion Melanie was better than Abi.

I think you'll find it is, given that this is a discussion forum.

As I said in a previous post not everybodys taste is the same. IMO she took a chance it didn't pay off, now she has to move on, as will her fans when they get over the disappointment of her missing out. Truthfully, I personally thought she deserved a top 3 spot, but I also know that's not everyone else's opinion, and that's OK.
