Why *I* think Melanie didn't make it.

Melanie has gotten so much experience and advice from the X Factor she is good and sings well. Everyone seems to keep saying she's lacking in the emotion that you can't feel it when she sings. She should maybe try and focus on the emotional part and try and open up. I don't think she'd audition again but that seems to be all the judges say she's missing if she gets that maybe next time she'd make it but she'd be better applying somewhere else using all the knowledge and advice she's been given. I still think she should've made it.

Melanie fans should sit and think really hard why nobody has offered her recording contract all the times she got told no.

All this outrage will come to absolutely nothing. If Melanie was that good she would have been offered recording contract by now.

She is trying to work in the wrong genre, she should go into musical theatre, where you need a good voice.

Then why hasn't anyone in that field of music signed her up?

I think it would be up to her to audition for musical theatre, they wouldn't come looking for her (it's a bit different to the pop industry).

You don't sign up or get signed up, its like an acting job you audition and I feel she has the voice for it.

Rhydian was offered part in a musical from Andrew Lloyd Webber before X Factor live shows.

She's just lazy then basically coming back for the fourth time. She should find different ways to make the music business do some gigs up and down the country or get herself agent.

She does do gigs and has her own thing going called Mc productions. Rydian was older than Mel though. and was shafted in the finals of the show. Amazing singer.

Also his background was actually in musical theatre.

Well then she didn't need X Factor.

Don't count Hannah out. She has possibly the best voice in the competition, and certainly one of the best.

Having said that, Tamera has the most overall potential.

As for Melanie, while if it was only a question of vocal ability she easily deserved a spot over Abbi ,but, Abbi will appeal to the demographic that likes sweet voiced, breathily affected sounding neo-folk singers. She is more marketable . It may seem unfair and a shame to some, but it is true.

I think Melanie will do just fine without the show. She truly has a lovely voice, she's dedicated, and she's quite pretty and likeable. She could easily work high end corporate gigs and such, and, in time, if she matures and defines who she is , she may well find another road to the level of success the show can launch for a lucky few. If not, she will likely make a fine living in music anyway.

Just because you don't like her, doesn't mean she's not popular. She clearly is!”

Most popular act from last year on Twitter: Union J

People who bother to tweet (or post on forums) about a TV signing contest are a very select section of the audience.

What's Sam Callahan doing on the show then? Seems he has high profile management and an agent, has been going to a very expensive stage school, the works......

That's completely different situation altogether compared to Melanie its his first time auditioning for the show.

I quite liked it. It was by no means perfect, and she doesn't have the strongest voice, but I like her tone and look forward to hearing her interpretations of the songs she's given.

Abi and Hannah are gonna be a piece of cake to get out when they're ready to be disposed of. Abi, just like Janet, will be hyped and then dropped like a sack of spuds.

Melanie however, is Irish and wouldn't be so easy to dispose of. I truly believe that if she had made the finals, she'd have had a good shot of winning. The Irish vote is strong. The English vote would be split among the contestants, including Melanie. She's also incredibly pretty and has a fantastic voice, that we've not even heard a fraction of its potential.

No doubt the haters are going to say my theory is ridiculous, but mark my words, Tamera will win, assuming no more bad press.”

Abi will go the furthest in the girls, she is likable, friends with James Arthur who will certainly tweet for his fans support, also she is from the north east who always back their acts on reality tv vote.

But i think the real reason Melanie never made the shows is they preferred to use her as a TV moment, and to back up the previous years when they said no!! How could they say no the other years then suddenly say yes, because Melanie has not improved, she has always been this good!!
the show is a fix... i would so love to say some of the things i know about the show, but i am certain i would be given up by Digital Spy if i did!!

Abi to win for me now! And as lovely as i hear she is, i am not attached to her at all. YET!

Yes, because Gamu is actually a star. The perfect Girls category that year would have been Rebecca-Cher-Katie-Gamu.

I could've done without Katie and Cher, but its good to see Cher doing well even if she's not my sort of thing.

So why set up a thread about this topic & call everyone who doesn't agree with you 'idiots'? As much as I don't rate Abi, clearly they saw something in her that they didn't see in Melanie. The latter just wasn't good enough- too bland & doesn't stick in the memory for long IMO.

Unlike the three who went through? I notice people keep talking about her blandness and lack of star quality and yet don't seem to have any opinion on whether Tamera, Hannah and Abi have star quality and charisma in abundance or not.

I think that could be because most of the threads/comments about Melanie are from posters asking why she didn't get through, rather than why the other three did. The more posters ask what she didn't have, the less focus is on what Tamera, Hannah and Abi do or don't have.

(Reading that through, I hope it makes sense to someone other than me and doesn't sound patronising - it wasn't intended to.)

Not patronising at all. The thread title dictates the content.
