I don't see much difference between them. But Abi is certainly not the life and soul of the party from what I saw.
Luck can play a very important role in these things. Timing is also important. This year there doesn't seem to be any big character like Rylan or Jedward or Wagner. Perhaps one will develop on the series like Christopher did but if Rylan auditioned this series, would he have made it through? |

Yeah, so it is a timing issue and luck plays a part.

I don't think Abi has more star quality than Melanie, but I do think she has a natural style, musical direction and market appeal, which Melanie doesn't have.

That's putting it a bit too simply (see previous post.)

I think just because Melanie can sing well but she just lacks the emotional side connecting with the song thats the only thing Nicole said she is missing .

I agree, she's not a star and it was the right decision.
Also agree with OP about Tamera. There is definitely something about that girl. She has the makings of something that could turn out to be very special. Melanie clearly has the potential to become a star but sadly she won't have the X Factor platform anymore to display that potential. |

None of them are stars until they earn it, including your "special" Tamera.

No need, I know plenty about Mary.
I thought it was somewhat brave of Tamera to sing a MJB song at Judges' Houses, in front of her. |

I'm confused... Tamera sang Falling, which is an Alicia Keys song?

They didn't say Tamera was already a star, just that she has the makings of one. No different to what you're saying about Melanie.
I would disagree that Tamera or Abi or Hannah has any more "makings of a star" than Melanie, and I think that "star quality" is far down on the list of factors that is taken into consideration for who makes the live show. One only has to look at how few contestants from the live show over the years actually can be considered a star. I think the reason that Melanie didn't make the live show is because she didn't fit into their plans. No more and no less. In another year it could just as easily have been Tamera, Abi or Hannah that missed out. |

There's no doubt the show loves to court controversy and often puts through acts like Wagner or rylan just to stir up headlines. However, a very good reason for leaving out Melanie is that she simply isn't interesting enough to make the final 12. She's neither very good, very bad, funny, opinionated or in any way remarkable. That's why she missed the cut.

I don't know for certain, but I think you are agreeing with me, then.

She got sent home in favour of Cher and Katie though, so I disagree with you - she was obviously lacking in star quality! She was so bland, dull, boring and whatever other creative words that have been used to describe Melanie.
I hope she's given up on her dream. Rejection from this show means you'll never make it |
