He did an interview in January -http://www.thisistotalessex.co.uk/Bo...ail/story.html
Quote:
“Unlike Dan Ferrari-Lane, Greg West and Micky Parsons, Sam's friends from Sylvia Young Theatre School, applying for X Factor was never an option.

He said: "I'd much rather take the longer harder route so I know within myself that it was more credible," said Sam of his decision.”

He performs at schools and apparently sings about how he hates the X Factor.

He is an arrogant tool, he's well known for already having management/backing yet was probably so up himself they gave up and he had to come begging.

Looks and teenage girl attention get you far and he is lucky to have that

Sam has been going around trying to be the next big thing for a few years, just google him. Truth is he needs Xfactor to make it big.

The real question is how far will he get!!

Hmm. I can see X Factor throwing him under the bus at some point...

Deffo. Beat him down until he starts crying and make him sau thank-you. He'll stay to the last six (so then can take his pretty ass on the live tour) but then they will beat on him like Tyson on Bruno.

A lot of musicians and vocalists don't think the show is credible. I don't fault him for trying for the mass amount of exposure he'll get , regardless of what he thinks of the show. What he was doing wasn't working for him, apparently. He's just trying to give himself the best chance possible of a career in music, any way he can, and since the opportunity was there, why shouldn't he have taken it?

He's not really a musician though. He's an "entertainer" who'd be better off doing musical theatre or variety. And if he's lucky that's where he'll end up, like that cocky kid from Liverpool with the round head who liked swing.

Ray Quinn. That was the cocky kid. Apart from George Osborne I don't think I've ever seen anyone more punchable.

I agree with you, he would be more suited to that.

He's more suited to being a stripper than a singer.

I like him, and hope he does well on the shows.

Unfortunately he has also slagged off musical theatre in another interview

“ You went to the Sylvia Young Theatre School so how did you find your time there?
Sylvia Young’s is really good but it is very musical theatre.
....
There was a whole group of us, and it was mostly all my friends, who wanted to be in the music industry and be a little bit more serious rather and than the whole jazz hands/musical theatre thing and I guess that didn’t go down well with the teachers because they liked us to be more musical theatre and do exactly what they said.”

Not a fan of him from what I've seen so far. Something very unlikeable.

What a tosser. Why didn't he aim for the BRIT school then? Prona ly wasn't good enough. Does he play any instruments or write songs? If not his claims to be a serious musician look very shallow.

He writes, has recorded various songs, been in television, westend musicals, been picked by Simon Fuller for a band, plays guitar and piano.
He also turned down four full scholarships to the top music collages in the country when he got picked for the band he used to be in.

Now Sam is on the X Factor.”

We all know most of them are just out of stage school or failed artists who are on the show just to gain publicity.

Why are his comments a suprise to people on this thread?

I think X Factor is the biggest thing on TV he has done, getting on Casualty I suspect is run of the mill when your in a drama school and the same for BBC's "Celebrate Oliver" programme, I've watched the Youtube of the show and can't work out which one he is.

Turns out being in a band was not "credible" for him either so he quit.

“Deciding to leave the band this year was the hardest decision to make, but it wasn't right for me. I wanted to make it as a more credible artist”

You forgot to mention his other listed achievement - reaching the finals in the 2008 & 2009 'Festival4Stars' competition, although Google searches are throwing up his father Mark Callahan to be one of the directors in 2009 of the contest.

Quite, he's hardly on the cutting edge of modern day pop is he?

If he wants credibility a "change," of hairstyle might help..he looks to me, like he could slot into any boyband of recent years and he aint that remarkable vocally either.

Rich.
