Possible Reason For Melanie's Treatment
Singy Thingy
07-10-2013
It just occurred to me, that if an act was actually being groomed as a popstar/for chart releases, but might sell better/be launched more effectively with a big dramatic widely covered event than to simply sing well on a show and be a nice, normal , humble person, it would make a lot of sense to feature her heavily on the show, gain sympathy for her, and then shock exit her.

. The way she was treated would stay in a lot of people's minds. Then, they could engineer her "determined, amazing comeback in the face of adversity". (NOt on the show, though.)

She may well have been semi-guided to go this route, and aware of all that's going on.

I bet (and hope as I do like her voice and her dedication) that she releases a single within a year, or the show has a twist involving her to keep her in the public eye.

This or similar is likely. I've seen it done. If not, then they really went way too far for the sake of a few dramatic moments .

Two words:
Laura White.

Two more words:
Gamu Nhengu.

If they couldn't launch themselves off the back of their exits, nobody else ever will, unfortunately.

She has a better voice than most of the other finalists, they always mention about a 'recording voice' well Melanie has exactly that! She and Paul are too good for the show.

I would imagine it's the BIB. XF is quite well known and has established form for using contestants as sacrificial lambs to court publicity.

They built her up, told her she was the strongest vocalist amongst the girls moments before axing her. Twitter went into meltdown, show gets publicity and people talking about it, job done.

Although a nice idea, I don't believe that's the reason. I don't believe there really is a reason other than to keep viewers second guessing themselves. Exploitation of contestants has always worked detrimentally against the show (in my opinion), as it turns viewers off. How they think stunts like this will keep viewers watching I don't know, not when the rival show (Strictly) offers a much more pleasant, safer and positive viewing experience.

The majority of the choices made by the judges this weekend simply left me bewildered and puzzled.

And why they chose to show the eliminated contestants breaking the bad news to despondent family and friends? I just don't get it.

BIB: They did me too on a couple of occasions. But the overall lineup was kinda weak and the final 12 is weak for it.

This may sound mean but the show does stuff like this, stuff that I can't help but feel are aimed at giving those who are terminally brain dead something to gawp at and point and laugh over.
