All the hate Sam is getting on here is starting to annoy me with the endless complaints of "he can't sing". He can bloody sing! Rant over lol.

I really like that too (and it proves he can sing!)
I think song choice is going to be crucial for Sam on the X Factor, hopefully they will let him do a stripped down ballad like this soon to prove everyone wrong. |

The song choice seems dull compared to the others, so I don't think he has a choice but to nail it.

I assume, by the song choice, that he's been given this song without any distractions or much production. I will absolutely be rooting for him to prove everyone wrong.
Although I think some people do just love to hate, so even if he gives a great performance, he won't get most of the haters off of his back. Shame. |

I think you're right. Looking at the many comments about Sam on here it would seem he is the chosen Digital Spy hate figure this year.
I hope it is just him singing without a big production this week - I don't think Louis getting the girl to kiss him mid-song did him any favours! The ridiculous thing is, people on here moan about song choice and say 'he should do this' or 'he should do that'... likelihood is that the kid (and all other competitors for that matter) just sings what he gets given, wears what they put him in, dances whatever choreography they tell him to and gets spray painted whatever colour orange they decide to put in the tanning gun. Lol.

I like that video. I'm really starting to like Kingsland Road after initially writing them off as another Nu Vibe.

Given their tendency to choreograph some parts of their performance, they're like The Risk but with more personality.

Bump. I liked his performance this week. There are things to be fixed, but he's showing potential so hopefully people vote.

I thought he was good this week. I was pleased Gary gave him more positive constructive criticism this week and that Sam seemed a lot happier with how it went.

He comes across as not arrogant but wanting to do well ... haters will always hate... his higher register was good but the first verse or so wasn't that strong. But i can see that he is trying. On twitter he comes across as genuine and i worry that he may be just another pawn in the xf game....his styling is atrocious... I hope that he finds his artistry - just him and a guitar would be a welcome start. Perhaps he needs to try and emulate Matt Cardle for that soft rock/pop style rather than his styling as 1d or Kingsland Rd extra.

I agree, I'd like to see more of him as an artist. I know from looking at his stuff online that he's quite a talented little song writer too, so would be interesting to maybe hear him do one of his own as I think it would show a lot of people that have written him off as superficial or talentless that there is more to him than meets the eye. And yes, perhaps a performance with a guitar. Apparently he also plays piano and drums, and Gary mentioned that to Abby that he will also back a multi instrumental artist who writes music, so I think this side of Sam needs to be shown more. I really liked his performance this week. I wonder if maybe his nerves are preventing him from really holding on to those softer notes as he doesn't seem to struggle with them in the Youtube videos I've seen of him and he looked like a rabbit in headlights yesterday evening. |

Also... absolutely loving the banter between the boys on Xtra Factor. Sam and Nicholas seem to have a great relationship and their characters really seem to be coming out now. I'm finding both of them really likeable.

He trended worldwide on Twitter while I was sleeping. Did he have a following spree or something?

I hope he gains momentum in the next few weeks. With sympathy angles for Abi and Miss Dynamix, he could stumble into the Bottom 2.
